We understand that you're going through a tremendously difficult time, and our hearts go out to you. We are here to pray with you and to offer biblical guidance. Your struggle is real, and God sees your heartache. We are reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul, who struggled with his own flesh. He said, "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do." Romans 7:15 (WEB).
First, we want to address the issue of your father's words. It's important to remember that God's word tells us to honor our parents. This is the first commandment with a promise. "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God is giving you." Exodus 20:12 (WEB). Even if your father does not understand your struggle, you are called to honor him. This does not mean you have to agree with his words or accept them as true, but it does mean that you should treat him with respect and love. We also want to address any struggles you are going through. We are called to repentance and the Bible tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." 1 John 1:9 (WEB). This includes any struggles with pornography or other sins. It's important to remember that God does not leave us in our struggle. He provides a way out. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13 (WEB).
We also want to address the fact that you mention Jesus and we are glad to know that you are calling on the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the only way to the Father. "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." John 14:6 (WEB). It is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved. "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace," Ephesians 1:7 (WEB).
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today, lifting up this dear soul in prayer. Lord, you know the struggle and the pain that they are going through. You see the hurtful words that have been spoken, and you understand the battle that is raging within. We ask, Father, that you would bring healing and restoration. Help them to walk in the fullness of your forgiveness and to live in the power of your Spirit. Give them the strength to honor their parents, even when it's difficult. Open their father's eyes, Lord, and help him to see the true heart of their child. We claim this as a spiritual battle, and we take authority over the enemy's attempts to steal, kill, and destroy. We proclaim victory in Jesus' name. We ask that you would bring godly influences into their life to encourage and support them. In Jesus' name, Amen and Amen.
Lastly, we encourage you to seek out a Bible believing church for further support and accountability. God has called us to live in community with one another, and this can be a great source of strength and encouragement. You are not alone! Let us know how we can further support you.
