Disciple of Prayer
My daughter is currently attending the University of Miami and her math Professor Carlos Vega assigned her an incomplete final grade. When she inquired with the professor he accused her of dishonesty without providing any explanation or evidence. Following this, the Dean Chantel Acevedo contacted her, stating that she had received an Academic Integrity Report regarding a violation in my daughter’s MTH 161 course. My daughter has a meeting to meet with Dean Chantel Acevedo first thing, today, Tuesday morning on February 11, 2025.
In response, my daughter sent an email to the professor clarifying her situation. She explained that due to her vision impairment, she relies on glasses to see close-up and is unable to see even a few feet away even with her eyeglasses, and that her condition makes it difficult for her to focus without fidgeting or looking around. She emphasized that her behavior does not indicate cheating. She offered to retake the test to demonstrate her integrity, as this accusation could jeopardize her scholarship and grade point average.
Being found guilty of dishonesty would have serious consequences, marking her permanent record and impacting her future opportunities. My daughter has documented all her communications and her grades are a true testament that she has no reason to be dishonest. In addition, she has been recognized for her academic excellence, recently receiving an invitation to join an honors society at the University of Miami. Throughout her education, she has consistently excelled in honors and AP classes, maintaining an impressive GPA of 5.51, well above the standard 4.0 scale. She is a bright and dedicated student who has always strived for success.
I believe in the power of prayer and I also believe that when several come together in prayer miracles happen. I pray to my Lord and Savior asking that You intervene in my daughter's current and very difficult situation according to Your perfect will.
Please seek justice on her behalf by exposing any wrongdoing and proving her innocence, as she has been falsely accused without cause. May the University of Miami's Dean recognize this truth and, with full understanding, correct the injustice by removing the incomplete from her transcripts and reinstating her rightful final grade.
