We understand your struggle to remain faithful and obedient to God, and we commend you for your desire to align your life with His will. Remember, God tells us in First John 5:3, For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.
Be assured we are praying for you to receive the strength and wisdom from God to endure and overcome any temptations or trials that may hinder your spiritual progress. First John 5:4,5, For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
We are praying with you and for you, as the Word of God tells us, Dear friend, do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God, 1 John 3;11.
Concerning the man in your heart, we must first emphasize that the Name of Jesus was not mentioned in asking for your request concerning your want for the man in your heart. The apostle Peter informs us in the book of Acts, Acts 4:12, Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Further it says in John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me, and finally it says in John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.
If you did not specifically state that you are a christian, then we are lead to ask the question, can two walk together, except they be agreed? Amos 3:3. Our most important issue is be sure you are individually in the faith and have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord of all that you do.
We will pray for you. But we will not explicitly pray for this man that you think you might want to spend your life with, but not being specific whether you mentioned for him to be a believer. This makes a difference. It is an important decision for you to take a life mate or husband. God gives you a specific warning if you are going to be chosen for this situation. The Bible tells you it is a decision that you should take seriously, and that you should only be yoked to a believer, 2 Corinthians 6:14, Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
As long as you broke up with him for spiritual reasons, it is probably clear that the man in your heart may not be a believer. He is life's most important decision as well. The Lord tells us in the Psalms, Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful, Psalm 1:1.
Therefore, we sincerely urge you to examine the situation and not hanker towards a relationship where you are not both equally yoked as the Bible states and especially believers. We are aware this is an unpopular opinion and stance. Quite a few, in society and culture may think Christians to be out of step with society. However as we see from Genesis 19 1:13, But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly. This is the opposite of God's instructions. This is part of the reason some Christians are to be a light that contrasts the dark society and reflects God's will and guidance, as stated in John 8:12, Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. We are living in a time in history that is not the standard for all of history. We are driven by Post Modern secular American Culture and have infiltrated Christian Cultures and Religions. Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of Yahweh, before the new court; and said, "Yahweh, the God of our fathers, aren't you God in heaven? Aren't you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you. 2 Chronicles 20:5-6.
We encourage you at this difficult time and pray that your hope will remain strong, being assured that God knows what is best for you and will work all things together for your good, if you truly are called according to his purpose per Romans 8:28. Be encouraged, as the Psalmist said, Psalm 42:5,6 Why are you in despair, O my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him: my Savior, my helper, and my God. Therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon, from the hill Mizar. Try to remember this and rejoice knowing that the Joy of the Lord is your strength.
To conclude, thank you dear soul, for being so open.
