We are glad to join with you in prayer for your son as he takes his math exam today. It's wonderful to see a parent interceding on behalf of their child, and we are reminded of the verse, "Let's therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need." Hebrews 4:16 WEB
First let us address the elephant in the room, there was no mention of Jesus or his name in any form. It is only through the name of Jesus that we can come to the Father. It is of utmost importance to pray in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name given to us by which we can be saved. Here is the scriptural basis for this. And in no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, in whom we must be saved! Acts 4:12 WEB. The disciples did it. Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the chosen ones who are living as foreigners in the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, that you may obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.1 Peter 1:1-2 WEB. And whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14 WEB. Notice how there is no mention of asking anyone but the Father in Jesus Name.
Below is a prayer based on your request.
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this beloved son to you. We pray for success on his exam today. We ask that you would grant peace to him and allow him to fully remember all he has learned. Please guide him throughout the day and allow success in his learning."For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."Jeremiah 29:11 WEB.
We also pray for wisdom as he prepares and takes his exam. Wisdom is a gift from above, and we ask that you grant it. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."James 1:5 WEB.
Father, we also pray for his future, that he would grow in the knowledge and love of your Son, Jesus Christ. May he be drawn closer to you through his studies and successes. May your will be done. Thank you for hearing our prayers. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
It’s important to remember that while we pray for success, we also trust in God's will. Sometimes success looks different than our initial expectations. Trusting that our loving God has our best interests in mind is the most important part of the prayer.
May his love for his son be demonstrated by his commitment to encourage his son to obey the Lord Jesus Christ. The obedience to God always brings success. As we have noticed, the request did not mention any prayer to our Lord Jesus Christ. So we remind again from the scripture, And whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14 WEB.
Let us also remember to train our children to pray to the Father in Jesus name. Jesus said, But you, do not be called Rabbi, for one is your teacher, the Christ, and all of you are brothers. Call no man on the earth your father, for one is your Father, he who is in heaven. Neither be called masters, for one is your master, the Christ. Matthew 23:8-10 WEB.
