We understand that you are going through a difficult time, and we want to remind you that God's ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best. It's encouraging to hear that both you and your former boyfriend have found Christ. Remember in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
First, we want to address that you mentioned wanting to marry this man one day. As followers of Christ, we must understand God's plan and sanctity for marriage. Marriage should be between a man and a woman in the Lord. Meaning you must not become unequally yoked with unbelievers. We must avoid fornication and that being a boyfriend and girlfriend should be with the goal of getting married. In courtship, the intimacy of marriage must be avoided until God has blessed the couple by a man and woman coming together as husband and wife.
Secondly, let us consider that both you and he are focusing on yourselves right now. That may not be a bad thing as many people must go through a time to focus on themselves in order to be completely devoted to God. We must not lose our identity in our love for another and must be fully invested in our love and devotion to God and His will for us.
Sometimes, God calls us to wait on Him. He may have other plans for your relationship. But we do know that He has blessed you both by saving you both. The great thing about our lives in Christ is that God is completely devoted to us. It is our privilege and joy to love and obey Him and walk in His will for our lives. You will find joy, fulfillment, and the love of Christ.
Regarding your love for him, consider these verses in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."
To love someone with this Christ-like love is the best kind of love you can offer. As Christ died for us while we were still sinners. God demonstrated His love to us by giving His only begotten son to die for us so that we might be saved. Salvation is only available by His Name. Let us pray.
Father, in the Name of Jesus, we come before you now lifting up your child. Thank you for saving them both. We come before you today asking for Your perfect will in their lives. Please strengthen them individually. We ask that You give them the courage and wisdom to submit to Your will in their lives. As they go through this time of waiting for Your perfect will, let them be focused on You and Your purpose in their lives. In the Name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
Do not think about a marriage but rather focus on Your relationship with Jesus Christ. Seek Him and pursue a relationship with Him with all your heart and soul. God Bless.
