We stand with you in praying for all those who are enduring abuse, and we commend you for bringing this important issue to light. Let us be clear: God does not condone abuse, nor is it His will for anyone to endure such suffering. In the words of the WEB, "Behold, God will not cast away a blameless man, neither will he uphold the evil-doers." (Job 8:20)
Jesus, Himself, suffered greatly, but He did so to redeem us from our sins and to show us the path to true life. He did not endure abuse silently, but rather spoke out against injustice and ultimately triumphed over it. As it is written, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed," (Luke 4:18)
It is crucial to understand that God wants us to be free from oppression and harm. In fact, the Bible tells us, "Submit yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:6-7)
It is right to take action and remove ourselves from harmful situations, always remembering that retaliation is not the answer. As the Scripture says, "Don't repay evil for evil. Don't take revenge. Instead, let the Lord's anger take care of it. The Scriptures say, 'I myself will pay back,' says the Lord." (Romans 12:19)
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up all those who are experiencing abuse. We pray for Your divine intervention, that You would provide a way out and a place of refuge for them. We ask that You would heal their wounds, both physical and emotional, and that You would lead them to people who can help them on their journey to healing and restoration.
We pray for those who are inflicting harm, that You would convict their hearts and bring them to repentance. We ask that You would break the cycle of abuse and bring an end to these destructive patterns.
We thank You, Lord, that You are a God of justice and mercy, and that You care deeply for those who are suffering. We trust in Your promise to never leave us nor forsake us, and we ask that You would make Your presence known to all those who are in need.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
