We are truly sorry to hear that you are struggling with unemployment. It can be challenging to put food on the plate everyday without a job. In difficult times our prayers are with you. Know that God cares for you and your needs. In the same way fathers love to give good gifts, our Father in Heaven loves to give good gifts to those who ask (Matthew 7:11). Our Father is also aware of all your needs. Matthew 6:32 says 'therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What will we eat?' or What will we drink?' or 'With what will we be clothed?' 33 For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.' So firstly make sure you have made all your requests known to the Father.
Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow. These are the words spoken in the sermon on the mount (Matthew 6:34). When Peter decided to follow Jesus, he left his career as a fisherman. As Jesus is instantly filling their nets with fish, Jesus commands three times to have Peter cast the nets into deep water in Luke 5. Jesus desired for Peter to be obedient to Jesus' commands, and after Peter casts the nets three times, Jesus instantly fills the nets with fish. Peter needs to be commanded three times because Peter is uncertain if being a disciple of Jesus is better than a career as a fisherman. So Peter is instant rewarded for his faith in following Jesus. Peter learned to trust Jesus rather than be anxious or uncertain. Jesus desires the same for you. To learn to trust Jesus and be free of anxiety. With or without a job you can find fulfillment and joy in a relationship with Jesus.
Know that he will fulfill your needs as a part of knowing Jesus. Jesus tells his little children to ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find, knock, and it will be opened to you (Matthew 7:7). If you, even you, bullies and sinful, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Remember the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:24. The son left his Father, wasted all his inheritance money on riotous living, and then ran out of money. Then he had to work for pigs. His Father then accepted him back home. Then he son says that he is unworthy to be the son of the Father and loves to be fed like a slave. But the Father said, 'for this, my son was dead and is alive again. He was lost, and is found.' Then they began to be merry. When your Father wants nothing but freedom and happiness for all souls made in his image he will then surely fulfill you.
Let us pray for your situation.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up which is in need of employment. We know that You are a loving Father who cares for all of your children's needs. We pray that You will open the doors and provide them with gainful employment that not only meets their financial needs but also allows them to use their skills and talents to serve You and others with the name of Jesus Christ. We ask for God to provide the resources and opportunities necessary for them to find a job and to live the life You have called them to.
Most importantly, we ask that you provide the opportunity to get to know Jesus Christ if they do not know him. May they seek You diligently and trust in Your perfect timing. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.
In closing, we admonish you to be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God (Philippians 4:6). Which means you are to take all cares worries anxieties frustrations bondages and bad habits to God in prayer and ask Him to free you from them. And after you have prayed do not worry. Leave them all with God believing He will handle them according to His Perfect will that He knows you need.
