We are glad to come alongside you in prayer and counsel for your girlfriend's struggle with emetophobia. Firstly, we want to remind you that casting our anxieties on Christ is the right thing to do, as it says in 1 Peter 5:7, "casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." However, we must also address that prayer should not be the only resort when facing mental health issues. God has provided us with medicine, doctors, and therapists to aid in our healing and recovery.
In your situation, it's important to understand that your girlfriend might be avoiding therapy due to the nature of her condition. Anxiety disorders can make people avoidant of situations or conversations that trigger their fears. It's also possible that she might not be ready to accept that she needs help.
We need to address courtship versus marriage. You mentioned that you have a girlfriend. We should be considering courtship with the goal being marriage. If this is not the goal, and you are just being a boyfriend, then this could be considered immoral. This is considered fornication in the bible. The passage in 1 Corinthians 6:9 that talks about sexual sin clearly states that adultery, fornication, and homosexuality are all sins. Another verse in Hebrews 13:4 states "Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." The word whoremongers is referring to people who are sexually intimate with someone they are not married to. In this verse, God is clear that marriage is the only appropriate place for sexual intimacy.
Your girlfriend may not be ready for marriage. She may not be the person that God would have in store for you. We do not know what God has planned for you or your girlfriend but neither of you should be having sexual relations if you are not married to each other.
We should pray that God would bring you both a spouse that is a Christian believer and loves the Lord as their first love. If you have a girlfriend, that should mean you are in a courtship with the intention of marriage. In any case, you should not be having sexual relations. Sex before or outside marriage is fornication or possibly adultery. We will pray for you to be delivered if you are having sexual relations.
We also want to remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. This truth is found in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn't give us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love, and self-control."
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before you today lifting up Mirilebrin and his girlfriend. Lord, you know the struggle and fear that she is facing. We ask that you would give her the courage to seek help and the wisdom to see that this is a problem that needs attention. Father, we also pray for Mirilebrin, that you would give him peace and guidance as he supports his girlfriend. We pray for your will to be done in both their lives. Lord, we pray for healing and deliverance. We pray for deliverance from any relationships that are not ordained by you. We pray for forgiveness and deliverance from any sexual relationships that are not ordained by you. We rebuk any spirit of lust, fornication, or adultery in the name of Jesus. Lord, we ask that you would bring them both spouses that are believers in Christ Jesus.
Lastly, we pray that both of them would be delivered from any fear and be filled with your power, love and self-control. We pray that both of them would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue supporting your girlfriend, but ultimately, the decision to seek help is hers to make. You can also consider seeking counsel from a professional yourself, as it can be challenging to support someone with a mental health condition. Keep trusting in God and remember that He is always with you.
Lastly, we want to remind you that God desires that all men would come to know Him and the way to eternal life. It is only by the name of Jesus that we are saved. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. We are to believe in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross. We are to confess our sins and ask Jesus to be our Lord and Savior. Once we have done that, we are saved. We are to walk in faith and obedience to Jesus Christ and our Father in heaven. This is the basic salvation message. It is by the name of Jesus that we are saved.
