God's Imminent Judgment
What could possibly be more edifying to the church than to admonish her regarding God's imminent judgment; even sternly so at times, according to His instruction! Not only to admonish, but also serve as a symbolic scapegoat for the sins of the church, indeed a precious, powerful, and purposeful edification set forth to, not only absolve the church, but to give her yet another chance to turn away from rebellion and build back better; no longer whitewashing plastered walls to appease man's youthful lusts of the heart, but to build a fitting structure of TRUTH, JUSTICE, and LOVE upon the righteous foundation of Christ.
I get that the scapegoat reference is Old Testament ideology; howbeit God operates howsoever He pleases: And just because the church sometimes foolishly chooses to trampled on the New Testament Grace of Christ, doesn't mean that God totally abandons His plan for her. There shall be a remnant. For though God's people have polluted and defiled His Holy things: His sabbath, His word, His table, and even His temple; God will not allow His NAME to be profaned: He is therefore sanctifying (cleansing) His Holy Name in the midst thereof, starting with the church.
The issue is not in whether it's old Testament or New, for Jesus himself often made reference to the Old Testament. The issue is the inevitable continued castigation of the church because of her refusal to listen and heed the warnings against setting abominations in God's house. Tables will be overturned.
Dear Heavenly FATHER, O Holy One of Israel, in reverent prayer of thanksgiving, I give honor, glory, and edification to Your Holy Name. Amen. Thank You LORD.
