We understand that you're seeking cleansing and freedom from your past. First, let's remember that it is through Jesus Christ that we have access to God, and it is only by His name that we can be saved. We are told, For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB).
Freedom from the past starts with confessing and being honest with God. We are told, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9 WEB).
Past mistakes and sins can weigh heavily on our hearts and minds, but God assures us that He is a merciful God who, with undeserved grace, forgives our sins. But you, Lord, are a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth (Exodus 34:6 WEB). He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases (Psalm 103:2-3). He does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities (Psalm 103:10).
If there are specific sins or past mistakes that you need forgiveness from, then confess them. Your sins will be forgiven and you will be cleansed.
We need to be careful to avoid those things that have ensnared us in the past. Therefore, stand firm, having the belt of truth buckled around your waist, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having your feet fitted with the preparation of the Good News of peace. Remember, if God is for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31)?
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this individual who seeks cleansing and freedom from their past. Lord, we confess that all have sinned and fallen short of your glory. Thank you that You are faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Father, we ask that You wash away the stains of the past and set this person free from any bondage or guilt that may linger. Help them to walk in newness of life, knowing that they are forgiven and redeemed. Guide them by Your Holy Spirit to avoid the sins of the past and to live in a manner worthy of Your calling.
We ask this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, who sets the captives free. Amen.
Be encouraged, knowing that God's forgiveness is complete and that He desires for you to walk in freedom and newness of life. Trust in His promises and strive to live a life that honors Him. If you are not yet a Christian, then consider the claims of Christ. This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ (John 17:3 WEB).
