We are glad that you have come seeking forgiveness and that you acknowledge the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Him, that we can attain forgiveness, and be reconciled to God and others.
Firstly, be assured that if you confess your sins, God is faithful and just to forgive you your sins, and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. As it says in
1 John 1:9 WEB If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We are called to confess our sins one to another, and to pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man is powerfully effective. We will be praying for your healing and restoration.
Psalms 103:10-12 WEB He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us for our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
So let us pray for you.
Dear Father in Heaven,
We come before You today in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who has come seeking Your forgiveness for a wrong he did thirteen years ago. Lord, we know that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We ask You to grant him Your forgiveness and cleanse him from all guilt and shame.
We also pray for his family, that they may find it in their hearts to forgive him, just as You have forgiven us. We ask that You would soften their hearts and help them to see him through Your eyes of love and compassion. Restore their relationships, Lord, and bring healing and reconciliation to their family.
We trust you for this Jesus because only You can change hearts and minds. We ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.
We encourage you to seek forgiveness from your family. It is good for you to have the assurance of their forgiveness and to be reconciled to them. This can be difficult but the grace of God will enable you to do this. Remember that Jesus said
Matthew 5:23-24 WEB Therefore if you offer your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
The consequences of unforgiveness can be very detrimental and can lead to bitterness and hinder our fellowship with God. The good news is that
Romans 8:1 WEB There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
So Anonymous, we trust that you will find assurance in the forgiveness of our Lord Jesus Christ and that you will be able to reconcile with your family. Trust in the Lord and you will be delivered from any guilt, shame, condemnation, and fear related to this situation.
