We are truly heartbroken to hear about your friend's struggle with drug addiction and we are here to intercede with you on her behalf. Let us remind ourselves that true freedom from addiction is found in Jesus Christ. His power is made perfect in our weakness, and only through Him we can find the needed wisdom and strength. It is only in Jesus Christ that we can be saved and have the access to God. There is no other name under heaven that has been given among humans by which we must be saved.
Firstly, let us address the issue of addiction from a biblical standpoint. Addiction is a form of bondage, and God desires for us to be free indeed.
For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only don't use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another. Galatians 5:13 WEB
Now, let us pray together.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up our dear sister in Christ who is battling with drug addiction. We know that this is not Your will for her life, and we stand in the gap, praying for her deliverance and healing. We know that You are a God who can do the impossible, and we trust in Your power to set her free. We pray that You would grant her the wisdom and strength to overcome this addiction, and that You would surround her with Your love and support. We also pray for her faith and belief in Jesus Christ. We ask you to send the Holy Spirit to guide her, and to lead her to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. No one else is able to save her. We ask that You would use this trial to draw her closer to You, and to strengthen her faith. We rebuke the spirit of addiction and command it to flee in Jesus name. We ask for this in Jesus might name. Amen.
And Jesus said unto them, "I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." John 6:35 WEB
We encourage you to continue supporting your friend, and to be a loving ear for her. Let her know that God loves her, and that He has her future and her healing in mind. We ask that you both meditate on the following verses.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God," for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. James 1:12-15 WEB
As a Christian we are called to help and support one another. So, it is important that we take action and help her fight this battle. We can do this by helping her to find professional help which can assist her in this battle. If there are any Christian resources or counselors that are available in her area, reach out to them. We encourage you to continue to pray and fast for her healing and deliverance.
