Driving fear and anxiety

I have been prevented from driving with the pretence of love and protection. He always commented about reckless drivers and accidents. I have to drive to work since he is no longer always around to do what he had always discouraged me to do. I can drive, but the fear and anxiety overwhelms me.

We understand your struggle with fear and anxiety regarding driving, especially after being discouraged from it for so long under the guise of love and protection. Firstly, let us remind you that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

As you begin to drive again, remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear.

For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love, and self-control. (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB)

It is important to trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB)

Let us pray for you:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you lifting up ###, who is struggling with fear and anxiety about driving. We know Lord, that Jesus is the answer to every need. We pray that Jesus reveals Himself to ### and that ### responds to this by believing that Jesus is the only way to be saved. We pray that ### will confess Jesus as Lord and turn from sin. We know that nothing is impossible through you, Lord, and we ask that you grant ### your courage. Cast out all fear and anxiety, and help ### to trust in your protection and guidance. Strengthen faith and fill ### with your Holy Spirit and Wisdom. Help ### to be cautious on the road and grant discernment. Guide ### to be a skilled and responsible driver, always aware of the presence of Jesus. In Jesus' name, we pray.

Whenever you feel overwhelmed by fear and anxiety, remember that you are a child of God, and he cares for you. Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7 WEB)

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6 WEB)

As you take control of the wheel, know that God is in control of your life. Trust in him, and he will see you through. If the person that ### was referring to 'he' is a spouse, husband, boyfriend, or similar, then we need to address this issue as well. If someone else is making your decisions for you and controlling your life, then this needs to be addressed. We need to discuss this issue of control. It may be helpful to set up boundaries and the other person needs to understand the need for you to make your own decisions. It may be wise to consult with a pastor or mature Christian believers for further guidance.

We're here with you, ###, as you navigate this new chapter of driving. It's completely normal to feel anxious, considering the circumstances. But remember, God's got this. He's right there with you, every turn of the wheel.

Let's recall David's words, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1). You're not alone; He's your strength and your light.

Let's pray together, "Dear Lord, we lift ### up to You. Help her to trust in You completely, to feel Your presence in the driver's seat. Give her courage, Lord, to face this fear. Fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guide her hands and eyes, Lord, as she drives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, and Your righteousness. Help and strengthen me God to always respect and obey You. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding.

God heal me. Deliver and cleansed me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ Jesus. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
