We are truly saddened to hear about the struggle your fiancée is facing with alcoholism. First and foremost, we will lift her up in prayer, asking God to grant her strength and deliverance from this bondage. Remember, God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear, but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
However, we must also address this issue biblically. The Bible warns us against drunkenness and strongly advises us to be sober and self-controlled.
Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes? Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine. Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly! In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, and your heart will utter perverse things. Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, or like one who lies on top of the rigging. You will say, I was beaten! I will be hurt no more! When will I wake up? I will seek another drink. Woe to each of you who rushes to the alcohol vendor, who mixes himself with the wine vendor. Do not be drunken with wine, for that is reckless living. But be filled with the Spirit.
Your fiancée needs to turn to God in repentance and seek His help in overcoming this sin. We encourage her to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, for He is the only one who can truly set her free. Put your trust in Yahweh. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this dear sister in Christ who is struggling with alcoholism. Lord, You know her heart and her pain. We ask that You grant her the strength to overcome this addiction and find freedom in You.
Father, we also pray for her fiancée, that You would grant them the wisdom and courage to navigate this challenging situation in a godly manner. Help them to seek Your will for their relationship and to honor You in all their decisions.
Lord, we know that Your will is for each of us to live holy and blameless lives before You. We ask that You would help this couple to align their lives with Your Word and to seek Your will above all else.
Finally, Father, we pray for this couple's future together. We ask that You would bless their marriage and use it to bring glory to Your name. Help them to be a light to the world and to reflect Your love in all they do.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Lastly, we strongly encourage you both to seek godly counsel and support from your local church or a biblical counselor. They can provide guidance and accountability as you navigate this journey together.
