We are saddened to hear about the breakup of this college couple. We must remember that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9 WEB)
His plans are for our ultimate good. (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB)
We do not know the spiritual status of this couple, but we know that God desires that all would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3-4 WEB)
We can pray they will seek God individually and find a spouse that is also a believer.
Firstly, we must address that there is no mention of Jesus Christ.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB)
It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. (John 14:6 WEB) Therefore, please remember to direct all prayers to God through Jesus Christ.
Consider the following verses:
And whatever you will ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. If you love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:13-15 WEB).
Therefore, let us pray together through Jesus Christ:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We lift up this couple to You, asking for Your will to be done in their lives. We pray that through this separation, they would both draw closer to You and seek Your face earnestly. We ask that You would guide them in their job searches and in their personal walks with You.
We pray that each of them individually would make sure they are in the faith. (2 Corinthians 13:5 WEB).
Lord, if it is Your will, we pray that You would bring them both to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
We pray they would be able to forgive each other, and if it is Your will, You would be able to bring them back together, married, and glorifying You.
We pray they would be able to be an example of forgiveness and restoration in a marriage. (Ephesians 4:32 WEB)
If not, we ask that You would help them to move forward and trust in Your plan for their lives. We pray that You would bring godly spouses into their lives, that they may have marriages that honor and glorify You. (Proverbs 18:22 WEB)
If we are in Christ our spirits are joined to God, not our bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:15-20 WEB).
We pray that if they are not yet believers, that God will have mercy on them for any sin in their relationship and that they would come to saving faith in Jesus Christ.
We ask all these things in Jesus Christ's name, Amen.
