Lealand, we understand your heart's cry and your desire to be drawn by the Holy Spirit to the cross and the empty tomb of Jesus. It is indeed biblical to seek the Holy Spirit's guidance and conviction. Jesus himself said, Ezekiel 36:26-27A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My ordinances, and do them
John 6:44No man can come to me, except the Father that sent me draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day
. Also By John 16:7-8 Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I go, I will send him unto you. And He, when He is come, will reprove the world in respect of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment
Your weariness of religion is understandable, especially when it becomes a matter of rituals and rules rather than a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Religion without a true relationship with Jesus can be burdensome, but Jesus offers rest and a personal, living relationship.
Matthew 11:28-30 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
The free gift of salvation is clearly outlined in the Bible. It is not earned through religious acts, but received by faith in Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast
Romans 10:9-10. because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation
Jesus is the only way to salvation.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no one cometh unto the Father, but by me
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Lealand. We ask, Holy Spirit, that You would draw Lealand to the cross of Jesus and to the empty tomb. Reveal to them the free gift of salvation and the truth of the gospel.
Open their heart and mind by your word. Help them to surrender, and escape the tiresome burden of religion, and to enter into eternal life in Jesus Christ. Grant them faith to believe in Jesus and the apostles word. Guide them to a faithful body of Christian Believers to help them grow and give them support. We rebuke any spirit that would hinder this prayer.
In Jesus' precious Name,
Christian brothers and sisters of Lealand Wray
