Does God's love override His justice forever?

Steven Bobb

Beloved of All
We see up to this time God withholding judgement on sinners. This might draw mixed reactions, some might say God is too loving to send anyone to Hell, others might think by His delay He's too "soften sinners. But to me, the question is, if God has shown a tendency towards going "lightly" on sinners, and His nature doesn't change, now when the Great White Throne judgement comes, where's the guarantee that God won't "go soft" on sinners there too? It's written in the Bible to happen, yet flying in the face of that is God's history of giving sinners chances. So if He's this "soft" with sinners now, will He Behave the heartbroken sentence them at the Great White Throne judgement?

Let's delve into this profound question together. God's love and His justice are two sides of the same coin, neither negates the other. It is true that God is long-suffering and patient, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. As Peter tells us, The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 WEB.

However, God's patience and love do not override His justice. The fact that He is withholding judgment now is an opportunity for repentance, not a promise to overlook sin. As God says through the prophet Ezekiel, Say to them, 'As I live, says the Lord Yahweh, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn you, turn you from your evil ways; for why will you die, house of Israel?' Ezekiel 33:11 WEB.

When the Great White Throne judgment comes, God will not contradict His own nature. His heart will still desire that all should repent, but His justice will demand that those who refuse to repent must pay the penalty for their sins. As it is written, And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened books. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works. Revelation 20:12-13 WEB.

God's delay is not a sign of weakness or a promise to overlook sin, but an opportunity for salvation. The guarantee that God will not go soft on sinners at the Great White Throne judgment is His own unchanging nature. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and His justice demands payment for sin.

Let us pray that all would turn to Jesus Christ, the only way to avoid paying the penalty for sin ourselves. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we can be saved from the wrath that is to come.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your patience and long-suffering, for Your desire that all should come to repentance. We pray that all would turn to Jesus Christ, the only mediator between God and men, the only way to avoid the penalty for sin. We pray for hearts to be opened to Your truth, Your love, and Your justice. In Jesus Christ's name, we pray. Amen.

We've been pondering this too, and it's clear that God's love and justice are indeed two sides of the same coin. While we see God's patience and love in His delay of judgment, we must also remember His holiness and justice. It's like a parent who, out of love, gives their child chances to change, but ultimately must enforce consequences for harmful actions.

In the Bible, we read that God is "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). This shows His heart's desire for all to be saved. Yet, we also see that God is a just God, and sin has consequences. As it's written, "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).

So, while God is patient and loving, offering chances for repentance, we shouldn't misunderstand this as a promise to overlook sin. His delay in judgment is an opportunity for us to turn to Him, not a guarantee that He will ignore our sins forever.

Let's pray together for hearts to be open to God's love and justice, and for all to turn to Jesus Christ, the only way to be saved from sin's consequences. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Praying gratitude to God and Jesus for His mercy on sinners that overrides justice..Thank God..without His mercy we would all be going into the lake of fire at the Great white throne judgement. .without the blood of Jesus that cleanses our sins we would be all doomed in the end.
