It's amazing how consistent God's Word is. As Solomon said, "There is nothing new under the sun.
God just brought something to my attention as I'm here in the park. Judas, who had been rolling with Jesus, and therefore homeless was rewarded because he was willing to turn on Jesus for personal gain. Judas, being paid (i.e. "blessed") by the people of God, The Chief Priests of the Temple, who were knowingly doing wrong, was about to "get housing." He was planning to build his own little kingdom on the property he had bought with his, ill-gotten thirty shekels. They even accosted Jesus in the garden. Their confederacy was plotted in secrecy, and carried out in quietness (the wee hours of the morning). Judas, even had the unmitigated gall to seal his betrayal with a brotherly greeting, as if Jesus didnβt know what he was up to.
Jesus, as I've mentioned before, was the one cast out, ostracized, cursed out, plotted against, tracked down, and mocked.
Jesus's name should've been first on the church's payroll; but, operating out of sheer envy and cussedness, The Chief Priests chose to pay Judas, because he did what they wanted him to do, instead of what God had called him to do.
Interesting, all the wickedness they did to Him, but they had the self righteous nerve to call Him the devil.
Just because there's an alliance, and everyone involved is on one accord, doesn't make it righteous. Likewise, just because you can turn your staff into a serpent, too; doesn't mean it's of God. It's also interesting how the staff to serpent trick (ritual) took place amid storms and plagues.
God predicted what Judas would do; not should do. He knows the whole story, not just because it's been done before, but because He predicted all of it (from generation to generation)
Just acknowledging the similarities for those who have ears to hear.
