Elodie

Humble Servant of All
I have been attending a particular church for several months, yet I have not experienced any meaningful outcomes from my involvement. The men in this congregation appear to exhibit a sense of superiority, often displaying narcissistic traits and a sense of entitlement. My observations suggest a distinct power imbalance between the genders. Additionally, the men are occasionally instructed in separate sessions, which seems to reinforce their entitled and narcissistic attitudes, leading to a lack of genuine appreciation for women. It appears that these men are uncertain about their desires and tend to wait for women to initiate conversations, rather than approaching them themselves. Initially, I believed that the church's services, tailored for various age groups, would facilitate timely connections. While the church organizes events for different demographics, I have come to realize that these gatherings do not foster meaningful relationships. The intended purpose of these events is not fulfilled, as interactions between the genders do not extend beyond the church setting, hindering the potential for romantic connections. I find myself at a crossroads, contemplating whether to continue my attendance at this church or seek an alternative. My desire to meet a single Christian man remains unfulfilled, and I am seeking earnest prayers to guide my decision. Although other churches may lack similar singles events, I am not encountering suitable prospects for marriage here, and I cannot afford to continue investing my time without results. I am asking this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Elodie, we understand your concerns and appreciate your desire to seek godly counsel and prayer in your situation. Let's turn to the scriptures and pray together for guidance.

Firstly, it's commendable that you are seeking a Christian spouse and are careful in observing the dynamics at your current church. The Bible encourages us to be equally yoked with fellow believers in marriage (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB), and it is important to seek a spouse who shares your faith and values.

The issues you've raised about the attitudes of the men in your congregation are concerning. The Bible teaches that both men and women are equal in Christ (Galatians 3:28, WEB), and that husbands should love their wives as Christ loved the church, which often involves self-sacrifice and not attitudes of entitlement (Ephesians 5:25, WEB). Likewise, women are called to respect their husbands, and both are called to submit to one another in reverence to Christ (Ephesians 5:21, WEB). The dynamic you've described seems to lack the mutual respect and love that Christ calls us to.

Regarding your observations about the lack of meaningful connections and the dynamics between men and women, it's important to remember that the church is a community of believers, not a social club or dating service. However, it is concerning if the church environment is not fostering healthy, godly relationships.

In considering whether to stay or leave, pray for discernment. It may be that God is calling you to be a light in this place, or it may be that He is leading you elsewhere. Trust that He has a plan and a purpose for you (Jeremiah 29:11, WEB).

Let's pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister Elodie. Lord, we ask for Your divine guidance in her situation. Give her wisdom and discernment as she navigates her involvement in her current church. If it is Your will for her to stay, give her the strength and courage to be a light in the darkness, and use her to bring about positive change. If it is Your will for her to leave, guide her steps to a new community of believers where she can grow and thrive.

Lord, we also pray for the men in this congregation. Convict their hearts and bring them to a place of true repentance and transformation. Help them to see the value and worth of the women in their midst, and to treat them with the love, respect, and honor that You intend.

Father, we ask that You would bring a godly spouse into Elodie's life in Your perfect timing. Prepare her heart and his for one another, and use their union to bring glory to Your name.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Be encouraged, Elodie. God is at work in your life. Continue to seek Him, trust Him, and follow His leading. He is faithful, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB).

Elodie, we hear your heart's cry and we're here to stand with you in prayer. It's clear you're seeking a godly community and a life partner, and we believe God will guide you to the right place.

We've been reflecting on your situation and we're reminded of Psalm 143:10, "Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground." We believe God wants to lead you, just as He led the Israelites through the wilderness, to a place of blessing and fulfillment.

It's understandable that you're feeling uncertain about your current church, and we want to encourage you to keep seeking God's face. Maybe it's time to step back and ask Him, "Lord, what do you want me to learn here? What do you want me to do? And if it's time to move on, where do you want me to go?"

We also want to encourage you to keep building relationships, not just for the sake of finding a spouse, but to grow in your walk with Christ and to support others. Remember, God can use any situation to draw us closer to Him and to others.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come before you today, lifting up our sister Elodie. Lord, we ask for your divine guidance in her life. Help her to discern your will for her, whether that's to stay in her current church or to find a new community. Give her the courage to follow your leading, even if it's not the easy path.

Lord, we also pray for the men in her church. Convict their hearts, Lord. Help them to see the value and worth of the women around them, and to treat them with the love, respect, and honor that you intend.

Lastly, Lord, we ask that you would bring a godly spouse into Elodie's life in your perfect timing. Prepare their hearts for one another, and use their union to bring glory to your name.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Keep trusting, Elodie. God sees you, He hears you, and He's working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
