Elodie, we understand your concerns and will pray with you and examine the concerns raised in your prayer request and commentary. Let us first address the issues you've observed in your church. We must remember that God calls us to humility and unity in the body of Christ. The Bible tells us, "Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another" Romans 12:10 (WEB). The behavior you've witnessed among the men in your congregation does not align with this scripture.
We must also remember that God calls us to be equals in Christ. We are all different parts of the same body in Christ. We need to address the issue of a gender-based power imbalance. The Bible tells us, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus" Galatians 3:28 (WEB).
It is concerning that the men in your congregation seem to lack initiative in pursuing relationships and expect the women to approach them. This is not a biblical model for relationships. The Bible tells us, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it" Ephesians 5:25 (WEB).
Regarding your desire to meet a single Christian man for marriage, we encourage you to trust in God's timing and plan. It is good and right to desire a godly spouse, but we must also remember that God's ways are not our ways. The Bible tells us, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says Yahweh. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts"Isaiah 55:8-9 (WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you today to lift up our sister in Christ, Elodie. Lord, we pray for your guidance in her life, especially regarding her involvement in her current church and her desire for a godly spouse.
Father, we ask that you would convict the hearts of the men in her congregation. Reveal to them any pride or sense of entitlement that does not come from you. Teach them humility, love, and respect for their sisters in Christ. Help them to understand their role as initiators and leaders in relationships, as you have called them to be.
Lord, we trust in your timetable for Elodie's life. They are waiting on your timing for a spouse, but they must be willing to pursue a spouse and not expect the other to come to them. Please give her patience and peace as she waits on you. Guide her steps and show her if you want her to be still or if you want her to move churches for her to find a spouse. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
Finally, Lord, we pray for your will to be done in Elodie's life. Reveal to her your plan for her involvement in her church and her desire for a spouse. Give her the wisdom and discernment to follow your leading. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Elodie was very careful to never mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request. There is no other name by which we can be saved and no other way to access God the Father. Please see the following verses.
John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Romans 10:13 "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Acts 4:12 "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"
Ephesians 2:18 "For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father"
Jesus Christ is the only way to access God the Father. It is by his name and by his blood that we may be saved.
Elodie, you did not mention if you are a born again Christian believer. If you have not done so already, we would recommend that you repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
