We are truly saddened to hear about the difficulties your son is facing in his marriage. It's important to remember that God's design for marriage is one of mutual respect, love, and support, as outlined in Ephesians 5:22-33. The wife is called to respect her husband, just as the husband is called to love his wife as Christ loved the church.
Firstly, we need to pray for your son and his wife, asking God to intervene in their marriage and to bring healing and restoration. Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this son and his wife to You. Father, You know the struggles they are facing, the disrespect, and the rude behavior that is occurring. We pray, Father, that You would intervene and bring healing to their marriage. Soften the wife's heart, Lord, and help her to see the value and worth of her husband. Help her to understand the importance of respect and support in a marriage. We also pray for your son, Father, that You would give him the strength and wisdom to lead his wife and to love her as Christ loved the church. We ask all of this in Jesus' name, we pray.
Now, let's address some biblical principles that apply to this situation.
The Bible says in Colossians 3:18, Wives, be in subjection to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. and in Ephesians 5:33, Nevertheless, each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
It's clear that the wife's behavior is not aligned with these biblical principles. We must rebuke this behavior and encourage her to honor and respect her husband, as God has commanded.
We also want to encourage your son to continue to love his wife and to pray for her. Matthew 5:44 says, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you.
Lastly, we want to encourage you, the parent, to continue to pray for your son and his wife. Your prayers are powerful and effective, as James 5:16 reminds us, The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much.
Remember, it is only through the name of Jesus that we are saved and have access to God. Acts 4:12 says, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.
Please pray with us:
Dear Lord Jesus,
We thank You for Your love and mercy. We thank You for the gift of marriage and the blessings that come from it. We ask, Lord, that You would bring healing and restoration to this marriage. Help the wife to see the error of her ways and to turn from her disrespectful and rude behavior. Help the husband to continue to love his wife and to lead her in a godly manner. We ask all of this in Your precious name, Jesus.
