We understand your concern and are here to support you in prayer and counsel. It's important to remember that God calls us to honor and respect our parents, as well as those in authority, including teachers. Yet, we also recognize the challenges you face with disobedient and rude parents and students. Let us address this situation together.
Firstly, let's pray for your class and the parents, as well as for Lily-C and her mom, and Lilly-M and her parents. We pray that God would soften their hearts and bring a spirit of cooperation, understanding, and respect. We stand with you and commend you for bringing this up and thanking you for boldly bringing this request in the name of Jesus and not just mentioning God. If you didn't bring this up in Jesus' name, that would be a wholly different matter and unfortunately a very common error. Let's pray for God's will to be done but only by the authority given in Jesus' name. We will make this a focal point in the request.
Remember, the Bible tells us to honor our father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise (Ephesians 6:2 WEB). It is very important to rebuke and correct any actions or attitudes that do not align with this commandment. Additionally, we are called to respect and obey our teachers and those in authority over us (Hebrews 13:17 WEB). If they are Christians, they will hear and respond to our prayers and any rebuking we do. If they are not, God may not respond in the manner we expect. I wish He would but that is not the way it is.
However, we must also consider your role in this situation. 1 Timothy cautions us not to despise your youth, but to be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. Show yourself in all respects a pattern of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, seriousness, and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us. (4:12, Titus 2:7-8 WEB).
As we pray for these students and parents, let's also pray for wisdom and discernment for yourself, that you may navigate these challenges with grace and godly wisdom. Also, pray that if the parent of the student is not Christian, that they may come to know Jesus and be saved. Consider the rebuke in Matthew 23:27 WEB: Woe to you, you blind guides, who say, Whoever may swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever may swear by the gold of the temple, he is debtor! You blind! for which is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifies the gold?
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up this class, the parents, and the students. We pray for a change of heart for those who are disobedient and disrespectful. We ask that You would give them and us the attitude of Christ. Help them (and us) to become more considerate and appreciative by the Holy Spirit. We specifically lift up Lily-C and her mom, as well as Lilly-M and her parents. And remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and there is no other name by which we can be saved. By the name of Jesus, take such control of this entire situation that their actions no longer offend you or frustrate us and for sovereign control of this situation.
Lord, we also pray for wisdom and discernment for Your servant as they navigate these challenges and for your intervention in the lives of all students and any parent that is not saved. May he conduct himself in a Christian and Godly manner so that we may bring glory to you by the good deeds they do and humility they show. May these actions point the parents and students to you.
We ask this all in Jesus' name because it is only by Jesus' name we can enter into Your presence. It is also by Jesus' name that we can serve as a conduit of your blessing to our students, parents, and fellow teachers and staff, and community. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
