Lewdnald, we understand that you are seeking prayer for a situation involving an investigation. You’re asking God grace, mercy, and dismissal of the investigation.
We must start by checking when you repented, did you also immediately stop what you were doing wrong? Repentance is not just feeling bad about what you did, but confessing what you did to God, asking His forgiveness, and then stopping what you were doing wrong. Maybe you have done this. Repentance is proving your change of attitude/action toward the sin in your life. Without a true change there is no repentance.
First, let's remember that God is merciful and forgiving. As it is written in 1 John 1:9 WEB If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. When goes on to say in Acts 3:19 WEB Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.
We are instructed in James 5:16 WEB through James 5:16 Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man is powerfully effective. This could involve details to others of what you did and seeking forgiveness. This may be from family, a pastor or others depending on the sin involved as you seek restoration and forgiveness righteously.
As a follower of Christ, remember that God disciplines those he loves. As stated in Proverbs 3:11-12 WEB, My son, do not despise Yahweh’s discipline, neither be weary of his correction;12 for whom Yahweh loves, he reproves; even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.
Yet this discipline does not mean He will answer your prayers. In scripture is says in 1 Peter 3:12 WEB For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears open to their prayer; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. And in Isaiah 59:2 WEB but your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. If there is still sin being committed then the Lord will not hear the prayers for your requests.
Let us pray together, and if praying the ending of an investigation is in God’s will you will stand in justice. This justice being either God’s punishment or His forgiveness for what you did; but could involve legal or physical punishment for the crime and not necessarily dismissal. But remember that any consequence, even punishment is His will.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, We come before you today in Jesus name, IJN, lifting up Lewdnald. He has repented and asked for your forgiveness. We pray you bring restoration through discipline, truth, and justice. Work in the hearts of those involved in the investigation, convicting them with your Holy Spirit, and guiding them according to your will. Help Lewdnald to fully repent if needed and draw closer to you during this time. Let him realize and accept your answer to the prayer of dismissal so he lives righteously and receives your disciplining hand. Thank you for your mercy and grace, Jesus Christ. Amen."
