Anger (1)

'Be angry, and do not sin.' Ephesians 4:26 NKJV
We all get angry. But there's a right way and a wrong way to handle our anger. Cain was angry that God had accepted his bother Abel's sacrifice, but not his, so he murdered Abel (have a read of Genesis 4:1-8). Jesus handled his anger the right way: 'Jesus entered the temple courts and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves. "It is written," he said to them, "'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it 'a den of robbers.'" The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them' (Matthew 21:12-14 NIV).
The Bible says: 'Be angry, and do not sin' which means instead of just complaining about the problem, we're supposed to do something about it. Instead of letting anger build up we need to deal with it. When we begin to feel angry, we need to assess why we're feeling like that and talk calmly to the people involved.
The Bible also says that we shouldn't 'let the sun go down' on our anger (Ephesians 4:26 NIV). That means we shouldn't leave any anger unresolved. We need to sort out issues with other people, and with ourselves, by inviting God into the situation and dealing with conflict in a mature and Christlike way.
So what now? Do you have any built-up anger? Take it to God and ask him to help you deal with it in a calm and mature way.
