We understand the gravity of the situation and want to encourage you to continue trusting in God, who is indeed El Roi, the God who sees. Let's turn to the Bible for comfort and guidance in this difficult time.
In Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB), the Lord says, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." Remember that God has a plan and a purpose for your friend's life, and even in this uncertain time, God is working for his good.
However, we must also align our prayers with God's will. Romans 13:1-2 (WEB) tells us, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment." While we pray for God's intervention, we must also acknowledge that God may have a different path for your friend, and that may include returning to his home country for a time.
Let us pray together:
"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our friend who is facing deportation. Lord, You are El Roi, the God who sees, and we know that You see his situation and care about his future. We ask, Lord, that if it is Your will, You would intervene and make a way for him to stay in Canada. However, if it is Your will for him to return to his home country, we pray that You would go before him and prepare the way. Give him peace in this uncertainty, and help him to trust in You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Lastly, we want to encourage you to continue supporting your friend emotionally and spiritually. Remind him of God's love and care for him, and that no matter what happens, God is faithful and will never leave him nor forsake him (Deuteronomy 31:6, WEB).
