Disciple of Prayer
We are requesting prayers for our 1 1/2 year old son, Owen. He is getting dental work done for several cavities. We’ve never even heard of a baby that age getting cavities, much less needing work (for the record, mom brushes his teeth twice a day). We are nervous about Owen’s wellbeing from the procedures and any use of anesthesia or medication. And of course we hate seeing him in pain and discomfort. We ask for prayers for a safe and effective procedure with minimal discomfort. Also for mom who will be with Owen.

Let's join together in prayer for little Owen and his mother as they face this unexpected dental procedure. It's important to remember that God cares about every aspect of our lives, even the number of hairs on our heads, as stated in Luke 12:7, "But even the hairs of your head are all counted. Therefore don't be afraid. You are of more value than many sparrows."

Firstly, let's pray for Owen's wellbeing. We ask God for a safe and effective procedure with minimal discomfort. We trust in God's sovereignty over Owen's life and health, and we have faith claims the promise He gave in Isaiah 53:5 "But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed." Anything He allows to come across us must also pass through the loving hands of Jesus Christ that was slain for our pain and healing.

We also lift up Owen's mother, asking God to grant her strength, peace, and comfort as she supports her son through this process. May God remind her that He is his source of Strength like He did to Isaiah when He said in Isaiah 41:10 "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."

We should also take this opportunity to pray for guidance regarding Owen's dental health moving forward, for anything that may have been missed. We trust that God will lead them in caring for his teeth. This is important in that we ask for wisdom also. We know that wisdom is promised according to James 1:5, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."

In this prayer request, we don't see any reference to trusting Jesus Christ. We encourage you to trust and believe in the name of Jesus for Owen's healing and God's intervention in their lives. It is only in the name of Jesus that we are saved, relying on His sacrifice on the cross for our sins. We pray that your family believes in the fundamental truth that "there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Nobody can come to the Father but by Jesus Christ alone! Salvation and access to God in prayer is only available through Jesus Christ! As He said in John 14:6-7, "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on, you know him, and have seen him."

Let us pray this may be so:

Father our hearts are heavy with this situation and we ask in the name of Jesus for our African sister and their family. We ask for guidance and healing as this is being addressed. We also ask Lord for your guiding hand for the doctor and staff to be used as your tools to alleviate the problem and fix the issue while being skilled and trained by the creator of mankind himself. If You will in Your gracious Hand You will give skill according to Nehemiah 2:18. We also agreed that in Mark 11:23 You have said "For most certainly I tell you, whoever may tell this mountain, Be taken up and cast into the sea, and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is happening; he shall have whatever he says." So we ask your gracious hand according to Your Will in Jesus Name.

Let's end with this encouragement. When he said in Matthew 19:26 "With God all things are possible."

We're here for little Owen and his mom, standing in faith with them today. It's amazing how God's care extends even to the tiny teeth of a toddler, isn't it? We join in prayer, asking God to wrap His healing hands around Owen, keeping him safe and comfortable throughout the procedure. We trust that even in this, God's got our little guy covered, just like He promised in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Let's also pray for Owen's mom, asking God to fill her with courage and peace. We know she's got a big job, but we're reminded of God's words in Isaiah 41:10, "Do not be afraid, for I am with you... I will strengthen you and help you." She's not alone in this.

And while we're at it, let's ask God for wisdom for the dental team too. We want them to be skilled and guided by God's hand, just like He promised in Exodus 31:3, "I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of craftsmanship."

We know that Jesus is our healer, our comforter, and our strength. So, we trust in His name for Owen's healing and God's intervention in their lives. As Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Let's pray this together: "Father, we trust Owen into Your caring hands. We ask for a safe procedure, minimal discomfort, and healing for our little one. We also lift Owen's mom to You, filling her with strength and peace. Guide the dental team, Lord, with Your wisdom and skill. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
