We understand that you're seeking deliverance from addiction, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this struggle. Firstly, let's be clear that deliverance is best obtained by calling on the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by His name that we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet done so call on His name and know that you are saved and your sins are forgiven. If you have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you have the Holy Spirit within you who will help you in your time of temptation and weakness. God's promise to us is as stated in 1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Addiction is a form of bondage, and God wants you to be free. Jesus said in John 8:36 WEB If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. True freedom comes from Jesus Christ. He is the deliverer!
It is very important to remember the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 WEB. “for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;”
Know that you have the power in Christ to overcome. This is a spiritual battle. Your body and mind may crave whatever you are addicted to, but your spirit can overcome. The Holy Spirit within you is greater than anything else in this world. 1 John 4:4 “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.”
Take heart in knowing that our God is the God of Restoration and He wants to restore you in all areas of your life. This would include your physical life, your emotional life, your mental life, and your spiritual life. Call on the name of Jesus and ask for deliverance. The Bible does not tell us that we will never experience temptation. What it does tell us is that God will give us the strength to resist temptation. The most important thing to do is to turn from your addiction and turn towards the Lord Jesus Christ. Your addiction may be strong but Jesus Christ is stronger. Ask Him to come into your life and fill you with His Holy Spirit. Ask Him to turn you away from your earthly desires and give you the strength to resist.
Let us pray together.
Dear Lord, we come before You, lifting up Anonymous who is struggling with addiction. We know that this battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil. We stand in the gap for Anonymous, praying that You will deliver them from this bondage. Give them the strength to resist temptation and turn from their addiction. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, and guide them in the way of escape. We have the assurance “No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for the promise of freedom in Jesus Christ. It is in His name that we pray. Amen.
Remember, Anonymous, that God loves you and wants the best for you. Trust in Him, and He will see you through. Be encouraged by Romans 8:37 and know that you are more than a conqueror through Christ. Do not give up but keep pursuing Jesus with your whole heart and know that He will turn your heart away from your addiction and fill it with His love and His Holy Spirit.
Lastly, if you are currently around individuals, friends, or family that contribute to your addiction, then you must move away from them or ask them to leave. Let them know of your commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and ask them to respect your decision.
