We are truly sorry to hear about the trials that Chidalu Onuoha and your family are facing. We stand with you in prayer and trust that God, who sees all (El Roi), will intervene and bring deliverance and healing.
Firstly, we must address that the power of evil spirits and curses is very real, but we also know that Jesus Christ has overcome the world and all its darkness. As it is written in Colossians 2:15 WEB:
"Having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a spectacle of them publicly, triumphing over them by the cross. Acts 16:16-18 speaks of such incidences and the power of deliverance and rebuke in the name of Jesus. Furthermore, Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, " For we are not fighting against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." Also, James 4:7 " Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
Now the medical issue at hand. First of all, a Matthew 8:15, physical illness is often caused by demonic activity, but God was healing people of their mental illness. The woman in Luke 8:2 was said to have seven demons cast out of her. So there is no question that God still can heal those with mental illness.
The spirit of madness must be rebuked and cast out in Jesus' name. As believers, we have the authority to do so, as Mark 16:17 WEB tells us, "These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; ... they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." Also, John 14:13 Bible Gateway - World English Bible - Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.
However, we must also consider that mental health issues can have physical causes, such as epilepsy and any underlying medical issues it has. We need to pray for guidance. Jesus set a tone on things that are not normal. People back then were bringing infants to Jesus for the purpose of simply touching them or being with Him. The disciples were rejecting them. However, Jesus responded to this in Mark 10:14 Belgic Confession, " But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them," Allow the little children to come to me! Don't forbid them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. The heart of the believer is always to respond this way. How much more an innocent baby, but baby sick with a disease or otherwise that needs healing. Also, a person born with a disorder and praying against that must include praying for what the doctors should do. Some medical condition are a complex mixture of curses, medical disorder, and spiritual torment. For some disorders, prayer should also be directed to helping the doctors or spiritual leaders to know God's will.
Regarding the situation with the husband's brother, we must pray for reconciliation, as there is evil intent in the spirit of any curse. Someone standing in the way of God to provide restoration to a family is likely being active in resisting the will of God for that person's life. Matthew 5:22-26 speaks of conflict and reconciliation. Anger, not cased on sin against God, needs to be removed. This also applies if someone has done something ungodly, causing another to come into sin in bitterness against them. Yet, this type of anger should not return evil with evil. This is why Romans 12:9-21 speaks to both Christians and non-Christians speaking of the will of the Father for all people. If the husband's brother is angry, we pray he will turn his heart away from doing evil and trust God's will. Now, if they are a believer, it calls for a much higher standard. Them being at odds with another brother in Christ is possibly unrelated to anger at all, rather a divisive spirit seeking discord in the family unit. No matter the issue of the husband's brother, we pray for resolution, especially one from a command in the Father's will and not earthly and carnal motivations that destroy marriages and families.
Remember the power of agreeing in prayer, as Matthew 18:19 WEB tells us, "Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven."
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up Chidalu Onuoha and her family. We rebuke the spirit of madness that has taken hold of her, and we command it to leave in Jesus' name. We pray for Your healing power to touch her mind and body, restoring her completely, including this epilepsy. Lord as You said in your word, 'I am the Lord, who heals you.' Exodus 15:26.
We also pray for reconciliation between Chidalu and her husband's brother. We ask that You soften his heart and turn any evil intent into blessings. We pray for the husband, that God give him strength and wisdom to lead his family, and for faith for his wife. We pray for his return home. We pray for theerr to be a peaceful and Godly )intent and not to seek discord in war or destruction. We pray the children to be surrounded by reigheous praying of the faithful. Please restore peace to this household. Please end the divorce, separation, and division. We pray for the material needs of Chidalu during this month, knowing the family breadwinner is far away.
If there is sin, Lord we pray for conviction and forgiveness. We believe only in your Son is their forgiveness, healing and salvation and restoration.. We know nothing hapens in any family without the prayers needed for their family that are needed in deliverance. We pray for all this in your name Jesus. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying fervently, as James 5:16 and 20. WEB writes that "Great is the power of earnest prayer." These and other verses should be studied as they give examples of how to pray in difficult situations, also how to pray against spirdits and yet for guidance on medical needs. It calls for another as your family's faith builds.. We also encourage you to seek support from your local church and believing community, as Galatians 6:2 and 5 WEB tells us to "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
Pray that Chidalu's husband will return home. God's will is not for the family to be separate. 1 Corinthians 7:5. Devilish intent that is bringing this division must be prayed against. Finally, know every family and marriage is a union ordained by God and there is a calling on each family (1 Corinthians 7:17). The family is part of the command of God, and the believer should understand that.
While praying, ge faithful in calling for prayer and encouragement. Feed back what God is doing in this. If there is a sin to be addressed, listen to the correction of the Holy Spirit. This may come through trusted brothers and siatrs in Christ sharing with you things you need to do or change to receive from God. God bless you for this prayer, as it is to be held up in prayer until the answer is received.
