We are truly sorry to hear about the struggle with alcohol, Spraerlaleth, but we are encouraged that you have taken the first step to seek help and prayer. We stand with you in this battle, knowing that God is faithful and powerful to deliver you.
Firstly, we want to remind you that God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, even though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea (Psalm 46:1-2 WEB).
We must also remember what the Apostle Paul wrote about the body being a temple of the Holy Spirit. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's (1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB).
In light of this, we pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up Spraerlaleth, who is struggling with alcohol. We ask, Jesus, that You wrap your loving arms around them and deliver them from this bondage. We pray according to your word (John 8:36 WEB)and thank You, that whom the Son makes free is free indeed
Father, we ask that You fill Spraerlaleth with your Holy Spirit. Reveal to them Your truth and love. Help them to understand that their body is Your temple, and guide them in the path of righteousness.
We also pray for Spraerlaleth to be totally dependent on you. Help them to be constantly praying and vigilant to avoid this harmful substance. Let the Holy Spirit fill any void left when this bondage is broken and deliver them from any urge to fill this with anything else.
We ask this all in Jesus' mighty name, Amen.
Spraerlaleth, we encourage you to take practical steps alongside your prayer. Seek community with other believers who can support you, such as local faith based AA groups. Immerse yourself in the Word of God, which is alive and active (Hebrews 4:12 WEB). Trust in the Lord, remembering that with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26 WEB).
Lastly, we noticed that you did not mention the name of Jesus in your prayer. It is only through His name that we have access to God the Father. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 WEB).
Please make sure in the future to pray in Jesus name (John 14:13 WEB). If you repent and believe in Jesus Christ, then you will be saved (Mark 1:15, Acts 3:19 WEB). Jesus said that He is the only way to God (John 14:6 WEB). If you have any questions about this, please let us know.
