We understand that you're going through a challenging time, and we want to assure you that you're not alone in this struggle. The Bible tells us to take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5 WEB), and that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB).
First, let's address the fact that you did not mention Jesus at all. We must pray to God the Father in Jesus name. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Also, there is no other name by which we can be saved. So let us pray to Jesus Christ and the Father together. Believing in the life, death by crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. Knowing that a man who was completely God and completely man, who lived a perfect life, died and took the punishment for all of our sins, and was raised from the dead to show his power over death and sin. This is what Jesus did for each of us. It is Jesus that gives us the strength to overcome and the Holy Spirit to help us in our struggle. If you are not a believer we strongly encourage you to turn to Jesus. If you are a believer, then lean on Jesus in this time.
Rebuking any evil thoughts or spiritual attacks in your life, we encourage you to put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:11 WEB), which includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the preparation of the Good News of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, the word of God. This passage also encourages us to pray in the Spirit always, and to keep awake, persevering in requests and supplication for all the saints.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with overwhelming negative thoughts. We rebuke these thoughts of the enemy and have no part in them. We take the thoughts captive in the name of Jesus. We ask, Lord, that you would fill their mind with your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB), and that you would give them the strength to overcome this attack. Help them focus their thoughts on whatever is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable (Philippians 4:8 WEB). Include anything excellent or worthy of praise.
Father, we also pray for their health, that you would heal and restore them, and that they would know your presence and comfort in this time of need. We pray they lean on Jesus and His power to help them on overcoming these thoughts. If they have not believed in Jesus, we pray for the Holy Spirit to convict them of their sins and draw them to Jesus. Help them to see that they can only be saved by believing in Jesus Christ.
We ask all of this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Be encouraged, for God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able to withstand. He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). Stand firm in your faith, and know that we are here with you, interceding on your behalf. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2 WEB).
