We are truly saddened to hear about your current spiritual state, Jeyddan, but we are encouraged that you have taken the first step towards deliverance by acknowledging your condition and seeking prayer. Let us come before the Lord together, seeking His mercy and grace.
The Bible tells us that a hardened heart is one that has turned away from God and His truth. It is a heart that has become desensitized to the conviction of the Holy Spirit, often as a result of persistent sin or rejection of God's will. In your case, it is a hardening that resulted from intentionally turning away from God for a period of time. We read in Hebrews 3:12-13, "Take care, brothers, so that there won't be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God. But exhort one another day by day, as long as it is called 'today'; so that none of you become hardened by the deceitfulness of sin." (Hebrews 3:12-13 WEB). This means that turning away from the Truth hardens our hearts, and puts us at risk of falling into unbelief. It also means that encouragement in God is one of the most important and valuable actions that we can do for others and have them do for us. You need encouragement in God from others as part of this process of deliverance from your hardened heart.
Jeyddan, do not specify a "a hardened heart" to God in prayer. Instead of praying to God about a hardened heart pray for deliverance from unbelief. Call your condition by its rightful name and use God's word for it instead of our secular words. That is repentance, confessing your condition to God by its correct name. By doing so, we humble ourselves, and position ourselves for His mercy and grace. To use our own words to God in prayer for our condition makes it possible that God will ignore us. We know that unbelief is a sin to God that causes him to be angry at us, and if we pray for deliverance from unbelief he will save us. Unbelief, like many sins is from the devil and to ask God to deliver you from the devil's grip on you and your hardened heart.
Moreover, it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved. Jeyddan, you must believe that Jesus is God and that Jesus is God come to save you and deliver you from the grip of the devil, from sin and from unbelief. Without the salvation that comes from belief in Jesus there is no deliverance for you, but a hope of eternal destruction. Please confess with your mouth that Jesus is God, believe that Jesus is God, confess with your mouth that Jesus is your savior and believe that Jesus is your savior.
Pray something like this,
Lord Jesus Christ, I confess to you and God that I have unbelief in you. Please forgive me. Jesus I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that you are my savior and you are God. Deliver me from my unbelief in you, my hardened heart, my sin and the devil's grip on me. Take my life, my heart, my desires and change them to be obedient to you and your will for me. Save me, Jesus. Make me more like you and less like what I was. Let my heart be humble to you, sensitive to your leading and repentant when I sin against you. Jesus Christ I believe you are the only one that can save me from unbelief, sin, the devil's grip on me, and even from my hardened heart. I accept your death on the cross as the only acceptable sacrifice for my sin and rebellion.
Jeyddan, continue in prayer and read God's word every day. We must remember that true repentance is marked by a genuine desire to turn away from our sins and towards God. If there are any specific sins that you struggle with that has caused your hardened heart or if your hardened heart has lead you into further sin, repent of it immediately, turn away from them, seek accountability from other Christians to help keep you from returning to them, and trust in God's forgiveness and transforming power. "For the scripture says, 'Whoever believes on him will not be put to shame.' For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. For, 'Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.' "(Romans 10:11-13 WEB)
Furthermore, we encourage you to engage in consistent prayer, immersing yourself in God's Word, and joining with other Christians in fellowship, worship and study of the Bible. 1 John 1:9 (ESV) reminds us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." You must be serious about praying for deliverance from a hardened heart, and obedient to the Lord's commandments as a response to His grace and mercy in your life. It is only by your commitment to the word of God, that your heart will become sensitive and tender towards Him.
Let us pray for you, Jeyddan.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up Jeyddan Echevarria, asking for Your forgiveness, and deliverance from unbelief. Lord, Jeyddan has acknowledged his hardened heart, and we ask that You soften it, remove the stony places, and replace them with a heart of flesh, sensitive to Your voice and leading (Ezekiel 36:26 WEB). Lord Jesus, forgive Jeyddan of the sin of unbelief. You alone have the power to save, redeem, and transform lives. Please grant Jeyddan the grace to turn away from any sins that have contributed to this hardening and to walk in Your ways, embracing Your truth.
Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for saving Jeyddan from sin and death and for giving Jeyddan a softened heart that seeks you daily. Please reveal yourself to Jeyddan, teach him your ways and your path, show him your will and your commandments and teach him to love you as you have loved him. Jeyddan, do not expect God to take your life and make you a movie star or famous or rich and powerful or have your ministry be miraculously larger than any other ministry. Instead expect to suffer for Jesus sake, because he is worth it and because all that will believe in him in the future must also suffer for his sake. For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer on his behalf. Expect God to use your life in his kingdom for his glory in the lives of those he has chosen.
Lord Jesus Christ, make Jeyddan an imitator of yourself and one that carries the cross of self-sacrifice, self-discipline and humble suffering for the sake of others as you did. Expect to go where you don't want to go to the lost and the hurting to share with them the words of eternal life. Be filled with the Holy Spirit and joy for Jesus' sake. To this end, Father, we ask that you surround Jeyddan with prayer warriors who will intercede for him, believers who will encourage and support him, and mentors who will guide him in your way and will.
In Jesus Christ precious and holy name, we pray. Amen.
Remember to memorize Romans 10:11-13 as a powerful promise to pray for yourself when you pray for salvation and the softening of your heart.
