DELIVER MY SPOUSE, LORD!
I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1-3
Are you praying for your spouse to come home? That is our prayer for you every day. I want you to know your Lord’s mighty power. Allow your Lord God to be your refuge in your time of trouble, where the enemy cannot get near you. I pray that you are growing in the Lord to believe and know that your Lord wants your spouse to be delivered from the enemy’s lies of deception.
Will you join with me to pray in agreement for the Holy Spirit to bring thousands of prodigal spouses home to their families on Father’s Day weekend? Your Lord God is the Deliverer. Please pray that your spouse will listen and be obedient to the Lord’s voice calling them to confess and repent of their sins with godly sorrow and come home to the Lord and back to you and your family.
I know every holiday is difficult for you, but they are also difficult for your spouse. (I know as Bob and other prodigals who have been in the far country have told us. The stories are the same.) Often prodigal spouses will work extra shifts during the different holidays to try to drown out the Holy Spirit speaking to them to Go Home.
You may be going through difficult circumstances right now. You may have received your divorce papers recently or you may be going to court. You may have found out for certain there is another person in your spouse’s life. You may have heard that your spouse is planning a wedding soon or you found out the other person may be pregnant. God hates divorce and all the devastation that it does to every member of the family.
Adultery is ugly and has disastrous results which causes destruction in your marriage and in all your loved ones’ lives. What can you do? Believe in the mighty power of your Lord God who is the Deliverer. Should you just give up and get on with your life, as everyone suggests? No! Put your hope and trust in your Lord. Take refuge in His mighty power and allow Him to protect you and your family from the enemy. Read this scripture below. Is this not your heart’s cry for you and your husband or wife or child today?
My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare. Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish. Look upon my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. See how my enemies have increased and how fiercely they hate me! Guard my life and rescue me; let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope is in you. Redeem Israel, O God, from all their troubles! Psalm 25:15-22
I pray that you are growing in the Lord and starting to hunger and thirst for the Word of God. The Word of God will strengthen and heal your wounded heart as you have been rejected, brokenhearted and in shock with all of your marriage circumstances. Your Lord and Savior is ALL you need. You need to repent for yourself and your husband or wife to have a total heart transformation. Are you having trouble reading the Bible or praying? Yes? Watch out, that is the enemy attacking you.
Try to start memorizing simple, but powerful, scriptures such as:
Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay. Psalm 40:17
Will you study and meditate on the Word of God, coming to know your Lord as the mighty Deliverer? You may be afraid of all your circumstances. Do not be afraid! The enemy of fear is coming against you! Trust in the power of your mighty Lord God. Read all of Psalm 18 to discover what the Lord will do for you.
The Lord is going to be your Rock, your Fortress, and your Deliverer. Take refuge in the Lord when you are in the midst of a storm. Allow the Lord to be your spouse and all while your husband or wife has been seduced, deceived, blinded and has become deaf by the enemy. Your Lord God will SAVE you and RESCUE your spouse. Cry out to Him. The Holy Spirit will never leave you or forsake you. He is always right there with you!
In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry came before him, into his ears. Psalm 18:6
Praise be to the LORD, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to him in song. The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Psalm 28:6-8
May you never allow your circumstances to paralyze you to the point that you stop looking at your Lord for His answers, His will and His way in solving all your problems. You must keep from being tormented by doubt, unbelief and disobedience to God’s Holy Word.
He reached down from on high and took hold of me; he drew _____ (spouse’s name) out of deep waters. He rescued ______ (name) from the powerful enemy, from the foes, who were too strong for _____. They confronted me and _____ in the day of our disaster, but the LORD was our support. Psalm 18:16-18
I pray that when you get out of bed each morning you will never forget that your help comes from the Lord.
I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber. Psalm 121:1-3
I know you never thought you would be going through marriage problems with your beloved husband or wife. But God is in control now. Please grow and mature in the Lord every day. Never forget that God is able to handle all your trials and tribulations if you will ask Him for His divine help and intervention! Imagine the Lord fighting on your side! The Lord will destroy and rout the enemy. Then the Lord will restore and rebuild your marriage for Him to get all the glory! Praise the Lord!
The Lord has dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he has rewarded me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord; I have not done evil by turning from my God....You, O Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him….Therefore I will praise you among the nations, O LORD; I will sing praises to your name. Psalm 18:20-21, 28-30, 49
