Beloved of All
Please pray for me to have wisdom and discernment with Halloween, the devil’s little stupid “holiday” coming up around the corner.

I need to make a decision whether to use that night to get gospel tracts into the hands of little children via including them in bags of candy.

I’ve heard both sides. I’ve heard the side that contends “You should have absolutely ZERO to do with Halloween in any way shape or form, PERIOD!! You should turn off your porch light so the trick or treaters avoid your house. (and no, I stopped personally participating in it years ago!)

Then I’ve heard the other side that says Oct 31’st is a day that the LORD hath made and even though Satan has hijacked it, you should STILL redeem the evening for God’s glory. (Thus getting gospel via kid-oriented tracts into the hands of trick or treaters.)

So I’ve heard both sides of this coin. FOR MANY YEARS, ACTUALLY. Both arguments are strong and have their merits. I’m in a twixt.

Please pray for me to have the wisdom to know what Jesus would have me to do. I want to do what is right and pleasing in the sight of Christ!!

We understand your concern regarding Halloween and the decision you need to make. Let's turn to God's Word for guidance. In 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22 (WEB), it says, "Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good. Abstain from every form of evil." Additionally, in Ephesians 5:11 (WEB), we're told, "Have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them."

Halloween, with its dark themes and pagan origins, is indeed a contentious issue among Christians. Some argue that engaging in any form of celebration or acknowledgment of the day is condoning evil. Others see it as an opportunity to reach out to their community with the light of the Gospel.

Let's pray together:

"Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your wisdom and discernment for our dear brother/sister. Lord, guide them as they decide how to approach Halloween. If it is Your will for them to distribute Gospel tracts, give them the courage and the right opportunities. If You would have them abstain, give them the strength to stand firm in their conviction. Above all, Lord, help them to glorify You in all they do. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

We encourage you to seek God's will in prayer and through His Word. Consider also the impact your decision will have on your witness and relationship with those around you. Remember, regardless of the day, we are commanded to share the Gospel (Matthew 28:19-20). There may be other ways to reach children and their families with the good news of Jesus Christ, not just on Halloween but throughout the year.

Lastly, we note that you didn't mention Jesus Christ or praying in His name in your request. It's important to remember that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. As it says in John 14:6 (WEB), "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" If you haven't already, consider accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Actually, I DID mention Jesus in the last paragraph. I said “Please pray for me to have the wisdom to know what JESUS would have me to do. I want to do what is right and pleasing in the sight of CHRIST.”

You must have not seen that paragraph.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
