Larshia, we appreciate your gratitude for the blessings you have received and join you in seeking God's will for financial matters.
We find a gracious encouragement in Philippians 4:19 "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in Christ Jesus." We also find Proverbs 30:8-9 a very good balance to pray, "Remove falsehood and lies far from me. Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with the food that is needful for me; lest I be full, deny you, and say, 'Who is Yahweh?' or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God."
Now to the Honorable Lord Jesus Christ we pray. Please help Larshia trust in you and your provision. Give her the strength to endure through financial struggles, and open up opportunities for her to earn and manage her money wisely so she can give to God and others, that represents the love of Jesus Christ for her and for all. Help meet these needs for bills and gifts. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Many groups believe in giving to others as God allows and blesses. Giving to others is not possible with debt especially if beyond ability to pay. In that case, giving more than the required minimum payment on a debt and paying others in full rather than just a minimum payment may be a better godly strategy and be acceptable to God. During heavy debt, giving significantly less is understandable to God. To who much is given, much is required. That debt should be a short term issue and not a lifestyle. When a life is full of debt, there is little opportunity to give. That lifestyle should be turned around. May God richly bless you in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion and through you God can bless others. This will produce thanksgiving to God. May this be a working goal in Larshia's life and your life. Notice that Paul confirms the fundamental reason for working and income: The one who steals must steal no longer; rather, he must labor, doing good work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with the one who has need. Christians are expected to talk and care for each other. The thief must change their lifestyle.
In Proverbs 22:7, we see a warning, "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." Debt, especially when it becomes a lifestyle, can enslave us and keep us from being generous. A focus on being content, considerate, and prudent with can help us avoid the pitfalls of debt and keep our focus on God and His will, which may be providing for family, friends, and community as God richly blesses. Many people have been able to manage money well with a personal budget and by setting priorities. Charity is something God wants us to do. It may take longer to get what is wanted by working for it. Proverbs 12:11 says, "He who tills his land will have plenty of food, but he who follows after vain things is void of understanding"
