Dear Prayer Ministry,
Prayer Request: Papua New Guinea National General Elections 2017_Will of GOD to pass
Our beloved country Papua New Guinea (PNG) is going through its National General Elections to appoint peoples representatives to the House of Parliament for term 2017-2022. We have 111 electorates in PNG with more than 4000 candidates contesting for the above seats. In history, there is a high record of 60 plus political parties contesting in this elections who have come up with their own policies to drive change to the development of our nation. Some of their policies may be good while others may be not. Where these policies derived or their sources, is a matter of consideration.
More of the rural and urban populations are supporting the newly activated PANGU Party (which was also the original party that led PNG to Independence in 1975) headed by the Party Leader Samuel Basil who is also the member for the Bulolo open electorate and the Deputy Opposition Leader, and to out-throw the current Oniel-Dion government. However, politics has taken its toll and there has been huge opposition and criticisms against Mr. Basil to out-throw him. Until yesterday, there has been more criticisms against Mr. Basil with his party executives who claim he has not met the party requirements in endorsing of candidates and therefore the party executives intends to endorse their own candidate, now also at a point of eliminating the Mr. Basil as a Pangu candidate. By 4:06pm this afternoon, the country will know whether Mr. Basil will run as Pangu Party Leader or an Independent Candidate. This is PNG politics at its best and it is certainly the work of the evil.
Personally, I have had some good conversations with Mr. Basil previously and recently last month and from listening to his party policies and what he intends to do for the country if his party forms the national government; I can only say that those plans are certainly Gods Wisdom being translated. Basil is a man who has his people’s interest at heart and who has a business to fight corruption and evil in this country’s government system. I cannot let this plans (which are surely God’s plans) being destroyed due to ongoing politics.
I am therefore asking your prayer team to stand together with me in this difficult time and pray that the Will of GOD will come to pass in this time.
I thank you for your support as we stand united to ensure GOD is glorified in this time.
Shalom,
