We are thankful for your courage in seeking help and turning your life over to Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we are saved, and it is wonderful to see your faith and repentance. We will stand with you in prayer and offer guidance grounded in biblical principles.
Firstly, we must address that the request was made in the name of God but not specifically in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written: For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all. This was the testimony given at the proper time. 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB.
Regarding your relationship, we must clarify that the Bible teaches that marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. We see that you were planning to marry, which is a godly commitment. However, we must also address the sin of addiction and the actions it caused. God forgives our sins when we repent, as you have done.
We must also caution you to rebuild this relationship in a godly manner, with marriage as the goal, and to flee from any sexual immorality, as it is written: Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 WEB.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother who has turned from addiction and sin, and has committed his life to You. We ask for Your forgiveness and healing in his life, and we pray for his relationship. We ask that You soften his intended bride's heart, that she may see the genuine change in him, and that You would restore their relationship, leading to a godly marriage if it is Your will. We pray for his continued sobriety and strength against temptation. We ask all of this in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.
Be encouraged by the words of the Apostle Paul: Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new creature. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 WEB. Trust in the Lord, and He will make your paths straight.
