Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ. It's funny how you go through life making your judgment calls, voicing your opinions, and thinking your way of is not only right but sanctioned by God. Then it occurs to you. You've been wrong. It's all about mercy and compassion. It's not up to me to judge the guy on the street corner selling drugs. It's not up to me to say this is right and that is wrong. What I should be doing is praying for that guy on the street corner. And if inspired by our Heavenly Father share the Gospel with him. Matthew 5:7 says something along the lines of รขโฌลBlessed are the merciful for they shall be shown mercy.รขโฌ
Over the past year I've been asking you all to pray for me concerning an upcoming court case. I've been asking you to ask our Heavenly Father to touch and soften the hearts of everyone involved in the case to proceed with an attitude of forgiveness, mercy, and leniency. And in the same breathe I have been cursing those you have been spreading the outrageous rumors and outright lies about me concerning the case. Yes. I have been praying for those folks, but deep down I feel as if those requests for prayer have been nothing more than simple lip service. And for that I must repent and seek forgiveness. The good news is I am forgiven. And now I first ask you to pray for those involved directly or indirectly with my court case, those who have made grossly exaggerated claims against me, those who arrested me, and those who will be trying me and ask our Heavenly Father to touch and soften their hearts. And if it is God's will, please ask Him to cause them to proceed with my upcoming case with an attitude of forgiveness, mercy, and leniency. I'll be honest. I do not want to go to jail. I'll be honest, I did commit a crime. I will be honest, I committed a misdemeanor not a felony.
Please ask God to help me to be more forgiving, more merciful, and more compassionate.
Now, if I haven't scared you off, please pray for Farhan, his family, and his congregation. They live, work, and worship in an area of our planet that is war-torn and predominately Muslim. They probably face more persecution in a day than I will ever face in a life-time. They all need our prayers.
Pray also for my family, friends, coworkers, acquaintances, those folks I deal with throughout the day, and those folks I would have a difficult time saying anything good about. Please pray for all of these folks. God knows their hearts. He knows whether or not they are saved. He knows their special needs, and He knows their desires. Ask God to take care of and deal with each and every one of them as He sees fit.
