We understand that you are going through a challenging time, dealing with depression, insomnia, and anxiety due to significant health issues in your family. It's encouraging to see that you have already prayed specifically to Jesus. We commend you for continuing to seek Him and hope in Him alone. First, let's acknowledge that for every situation, our ultimate help and security come from God alone, our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Here is a reminder of scripture: Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
The Father does not remove us from the world's turmoil after we become believers, but His promise includes overcoming the world through the power and love of Jesus Christ and ultimately being protected from eternal harm. Take comfort in our Lord's words to us.
John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.
Medication can sometimes be necessary to help manage symptoms, although we must be aware of the OTC and prescription drug problem facing the western world. We need to guard against harm to our bodies, as the Bible has this to say.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
We do know the Lord promised us life abundantly in John 10:10, The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly. In this reference, the thief would be Satan and his demons, possibly stealing lives through addiction to pills or killing and destroying lives through overdose and death attributed to these pills. While we won't rebuke you for seeking medical intervention, we will rebuke Satan and those demons in Jesus' name that may push you to seek this route to escape suffering rather than seeking Jesus' suffering on our behalf. We want you off these pills as soon as possible while you endure, providing for your family as Jesus provides.
We know from the Bible that, When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and the flame will not consume you. (Isaiah 43:2). Stay close to God for His love endures forever. His counsel is worth far more than medication to conquer anxiety. Ultimately, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. (Ephesians 6:10)
We encourage you to read some helpful scripture:
Philippians 4:6-7 Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
James 1:2-8 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. But let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let that man not think that he will receive anything from the Lord. He is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on the Lord because he cares for you.
We pray this in Jesus's name:
Dear Jesus,
We thank you for Your continual Love and support for all of your children. We come before You today as one body in Christ to lift your daughter up to you in prayer as she is suffering from anxiety, depression and insomnia. She asks to be taken off of her pills that may be fueling the problem and you have promised all of us that you have overcome the world. Please help her Lord Jesus to refocus her mind on You. Help heal her and her family as you have saved us from our sin through faith alone in You. Please continue to strengthen our sister in Christ, that she may discern Your will in every moment and patiently endure these tribulations. Renew her mind, body and soul with Your peaceful presence. We thank You that You do all things for our good, even that which we cannot see now. We adore You, praise You, and commit this family to Your ways in Jesus Name.
Amen
