We are truly sorry to hear that you are struggling with depression, but we are glad that you have reached out for prayer and support. Firstly, we commend you for acknowledging that faith and hope in Jesus are essential for your journey towards healing. It is only in the name of Jesus, that we have access to the Father, and can find true healing. Jesus declares, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 (WEB). Depression can affect anyone including Christians who go through various life situations which may affect their mental health and well-being. This affects adults, teens, and children. It is entirely possible that it is demonic oppression that is causing this issue.
Remember that you are not alone in this struggle. God is always with you, and He promises never to leave you nor forsake you Deuteronomy 31:6 (WEB). In Psalm 34:18 (WEB), we are reminded that God is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. As Christians it is important to take action and seek the help of a medical professional who can assist in the treatment and cure of depression. Many who suffer from depression do not seek treatment because of stigma they must overcome. This may cause them to suffer for years before seeking treatment.
We encourage you to seek God wholeheartedly in this time of need. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you James 4:8 (WEB). Spend time in His Word, the Bible, and in prayer. Pour out your heart to Him, and trust that He hears your prayers. The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18 (WEB).
It is also crucial to connect with other believers who can support and encourage you during this time. Do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching Hebrews 10:25 (WEB). Share your struggles with trusted friends or family members, and allow them to walk alongside you.
Remember the promises of God, which give us hope and a future. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB). Trust in His promises, and believe that He has a purpose for your life.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our fellow believer who is struggling with depression. We pray for Your healing touch upon their life, and ask that You restore their faith and hope in Jesus Christ. Help them to know that they are not alone, and that You are always with them. Guide them to the right medical professionals who can provide the necessary treatment and support.
Surround them with Your love, and remind them of Your unfailing promises. Help them to draw near to You, and to trust in Your goodness and faithfulness. In the name of Jesus Christ, we rebuke any spirit of depression, heaviness, or despair, and command it to leave. We speak life, hope, and restoration over their mind, emotions, and spirit.
We pray this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
