We are truly grateful to hear that you have left the cult and found faith in Jesus Christ. The impacts of a cult experience can indeed be traumatic and long-lasting, but we serve a God who can heal and restore even the deepest wounds, by the name of Jesus Christ.
Firstly, it is important to address that you have come to realize the traumatic effects of your past experiences. This is a significant step in your healing journey. As Scripture tells us the truth will set us free according to the following verse. John 8:32 WEB: "You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
It is also crucial to understand that the desires to go back and seek answers may not be from God. The enemy often uses our past to lure us back into bondage. As it says in 2 Corinthians 11:14 WEB: "And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."
We need to be cautious and discerning. The fact that someone from the cult reached out to you recently could be a test of your resolve to move forward. We encourage you to stand firm in your faith and resist the temptation to engage with them. Remember, God calls us to be separate from darkness and to walk in the light. 2 Corinthians 6:17 WEB: "Therefore come out from among them, and be separate,' says the Lord, 'and touch no unclean thing. I will receive you.'"
Let us pray for you:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our dear sister/brother who has been affected by their past involvement in a cult. Lord, we ask that You break every chain of trauma bonding and set them free from any lingering effects of this experience. Grant them discernment to recognize the schemes of the enemy and strength to resist any temptation to return.
Father, we ask that You fill them with Your peace, heal their memories, and restore their soul. Guide them on the path of righteousness and surround them with godly counsel and support. In Jesus' name, we rebuke any spirit of fear, confusion, or anxiety, and we declare freedom, clarity, and peace over their life.
Lord, we also pray for their complete healing and deliverance. We ask that You reveal to them Your truth and love, and that You guide them in the path of righteousness. Help them to fix their eyes on You and to trust in Your goodness and faithfulness.
Thank You, Father, for Your unfailing love and grace. We believe and declare that our dear sister/brother is free indeed, by the name and blood of Jesus Christ.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, dear one. God is faithful, and He will complete the good work He has begun in you. Stand firm in your faith, and trust in His unfailing love. If you have not already, consider seeking support from a local church body or a believer who specializes in trauma recovery and spiritual warfare. Remember, your identity is in Christ, and He has set you free indeed, by the name and blood of Jesus Christ.
If the cult was practising anything occult, magical, or spiritistic it should be renounced as well.
