We understand that you are going through a challenging time with your husband, Peter, and we are here to pray and provide counsel based on biblical principles.
Firstly, we commend you for seeking God's intervention and for your willingness to forgive. Forgiveness is a powerful act that frees us from bitterness and resentment, as Ephesians 4:32 WEB tells us, Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
However, we want to remind you of the importance of praying in line with God's will regarding this situation, either for restoration and/or individual comfort. 1 John 5:14-15 WEB gives us confidence to ask in the name of Jesus saying that whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
It is clear that you feel abandoned by your husband and that there may be other influences in his life. Regardless of the circumstances, remember that your ultimate trust should be in God, who is your steadfast companion. Psalm 27:10 WEB tells us, When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up. He is our constant source of strength even in the pain of suffering. He will never leave us nor forsake us as encouraged in Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Also, we do not explicitly know why Peter has abandoned his family, and will be important to acknowledge the spiritual condition he is in. If he is an unbeliever or is backsliding and rejecting his faith, then a prayer to return to his family or belief, directly requesting God's action will be more appropriate. 2 Peter 3:9 also tells us that God does not want anyone to perish but for everyone to come to repentance.
We should also remain steadfast in prayer and intercession while standing against any spiritual interference. Ephesians 6:11-12 WEB tells us to Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. The verse goes on to explain that our fight or struggle is no longer a physical fight with weapons, but spiritual. We pray to put on the armor of light to stand against any wiles or tricks of the enemy, and that we stand in truth, with faith and knowledge of our salvation in Jesus Christ.
Finally, we encourage you to pray for Peter, deep down we know that the fervent prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective, James 5:16. And that you would be a witness and a model to him in this separation. You can be trusting God continually along with 1 Peter 3:1 WEB, In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any obey not the word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word.
Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our sister who is in pain due to her husband's absence. We pray, Father, that You would work in Peter's heart and turn it towards You and his family. Grant our sister the grace to forgive, the strength to endure this challenge, and the wisdom to know Your will. Give both of them peace and extend your hand of mercy to him, so the family can be in unity and peace. Break off every work or of darkness surrounding Peter, and constantly turn his heart to you. Lord, only you see the fullness of her heart and her pain. In Jesus' mighty name, we pray.
Walk in faith, knowing that God is working everything out for your good, even in this difficult situation. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths, Proverbs 3:5,.
