Disciple of Prayer
I have prayed before about a guy I’ve been seeing. He seems to have a fearful avoidant attachment style of a lot of push and pull with not having the best response such as him accusing me of messaging the father of my kids, whose name is Drew, but he didn’t know it was the father of my kids. He said he knows I’ve been texting and so to have fun with that and have a nice life. I told him that was my kids’ father and I had been texting my 6-year old, which I had told him she had been texting me when I visited him a few weeks ago. He didn’t respond. I sent him a message a couple of days ago that I love him and miss him, and he responded to get a job. He has been sweet at times but hard at others and he says he’s hard on himself and others. He said he has been hurt in the past by it not seeming like women he’s dated have always reciprocated his feelings, even though he might have done stuff for them sometimes. Also, he has been concerned with how much money he has spent in a short period and whether or not I contribute. He has picked me up and dropped me off and gotten a Lyft for me, in addition to spending a lot on our first several dates. I told him that I do have a job, and he asked what, and I told him bartending. He said, “Come”, and then I told him I hadn’t gotten my check yet and couldn’t come. He texted me, “Excuses.” I really just want to have a normal closure conversation with him and ensure he gets the help he needs because he said last time we were together he was willing to. I still also hope for his salvation. It’s really hard because I fell in love with him in such a short span of time. I also would like to pray that I can get a full-time job and can be financially stable.

We understand that you're going through a difficult situation with a man you've been seeing, and we want to address this with you in light of biblical principles. First, let's pray for your situation and then discuss it.

**Prayer:**

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before you in the name of Jesus, lifting up ### and the man she has been involved with. Lord, we pray for clarity and wisdom in this situation. We ask that you would break any bonds of fear and anxiety in both their lives and replace them with your perfect love, for perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18 WEB). We know this man has been hurt in the past, so we pray for your healing touch upon his life. We also pray for ###'s financial stability and for a full-time job that fits where you would have her be, Father.

We pray for his salvation and that both of them would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ if they haven't already. We know there is no other name by which we can be saved, except through faith in Jesus Christ. We pray this all In Jesus Name. Amen.

Now, let's address some points in your request.

First, it's important to note that the relationship you're describing has several red flags. The man you're seeing has shown signs of being controlling and manipulative, accusing you unjustly and using harsh words. This is not the behavior of a man ready for a godly marriage. In Ephesians 5:25-29 WEB, husbands are commanded to love their wives as Christ loved the church, and this love is not harsh or unkind. It is also important to only date Christians that put Jesus Christ first in their life.

Secondly, it's concerning that he has been focused on money and your financial contribution. While financial responsibility is important, his attitude does not reflect the biblical principle of giving freely and generously (2 Corinthians 9:6-7 WEB).

Thirdly, it's important to address the issue of sex before marriage. If this has been a part of your relationship, it's crucial to repent and turn away from this sin. Sex before or outside of marriage is fornication. 1 Corinthians 6:18 WEB says, "Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." God's design for sexual intimacy is within the bounds of marriage between a man and a woman.

Fourthly, we want to encourage you to seek God's will in this situation. It's clear that you care for this man, but it's also clear that he has some serious issues that need to be addressed. It's not your responsibility to fix or change him. We need to ask God to do this work in his life.

Lastly, we want to encourage you to pursue a relationship that aligns with biblical principles. This means courting a Christian man with the goal of marriage, not just having a boyfriend. If this man is not willing to seek help for his issues and work towards becoming a godly man, then it might be best to end this relationship. Trust that God has a plan for your life and will bring the right godly man into your life when the time is right.

Remember, God is faithful and will provide for all your needs according to his riches in glory (Philippians 4:19 WEB). Keep trusting in Him and always pray in the name of Jesus Christ.

Let's continue to lift up this situation to the Lord. We've prayed for clarity, wisdom, healing, and salvation, but let's also intercede for patience and understanding. Lord, help us to be patient with this man and understand his fears and insecurities. Help us to love him as You love us, unconditionally and without expecting anything in return. Give us the strength to endure any hardship that may come our way, and the wisdom to know when to stand firm and when to yield. In Jesus' Name, we pray. Amen.

We also want to encourage you to keep communicating openly and honestly with this man, but always in a way that reflects the love and respect that you have for him. Remember, we are called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). This doesn't mean we should accept bad behavior, but it does mean we should respond with kindness and compassion, even when we're hurt or upset.

Let's also pray for God's will to be done in this situation. We don't know what the future holds, but we trust that God does. Let's ask Him to guide your steps and give you the courage to follow His lead, even if it's not the path you would have chosen for yourself.

Lastly, let's remember that God is always with us, no matter what we're facing. He promises in His word, "I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20). Let's take comfort in that promise and trust that He will never leave us or forsake us.

Let's keep praying together, and let's also keep encouraging each other in love and in faith. We're in this together, and with God on our side, we can face anything.
