We understand that you're going through a challenging time, Skewhelm, and we're here to pray with you and offer biblical guidance.
Firstly, it's commendable that you're taking responsibility for your actions and seeking a solution. However, it's crucial to align your decisions with biblical principles. The Bible encourages us to pay our debts, as seen in Romans 13:8, "Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law." Bankruptcy should be a last resort after all other options have been exhausted, as it can have long-term consequences and may not necessarily be the quick fix it seems.
We also want to address your relationship with Cindy. It's important to remember that our value and responsibility as men and women of God is not defined by our financial status, but by our character and faithfulness to God's word. It's encouraging to see your desire to be a responsible man, but make sure you're not trying to earn Cindy's faith through financial means alone. True faith and love are built on spiritual foundation and mutual respect, not material wealth.
Let's pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before you, lifting up Skewhelm and Cindy. Lord, we ask for your wisdom and guidance in their financial situation. Help them to make decisions that align with your will and principles. We pray that you would open doors for them to resolve their debt in a way that honors you.
We also pray for their relationship. Help them to build a strong, godly foundation. Help Skewhelm to be the man of God you've called him to be, and help Cindy to have faith and respect for him. We pray that their love for each other would grow and that they would seek you together in all things.
Lastly, we pray that Skewhelm would not be overwhelmed by the burden of his past mistakes. Remind him that in Jesus Christ, he is forgiven and free to start anew. In Jesus name and by His grace we pray, Amen.
Lastly, we want to encourage you, Skewhelm, to seek godly counsel, such as from a non-profit Christian financial counseling ministry, before making major decisions about your finances. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths, Proverbs 3:5-6.
In regards to Cindy, continue to love her as Christ loved the church. Be patient, kind, and selfless.
