Let's come together in prayer and counsel for this situation. It's wonderful to see a heart yearning for their wife to draw closer to God through fellowship with other believers.
Firstly, let's remember what the WEB says about the importance of gathering together: "Not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25). Going to church is not just a ritual, but a biblical commandment and encouragement for believers.
However, it's crucial to remember that we cannot change someone's heart ourselves—that is the work of the Holy Spirit. Our part is to pray, love, and set a godly example. As it says in 1 Peter 3:1-2, "In like manner, wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; so that, even if any don’t obey the Word, they may be won by the behavior of their wives without a word; seeing your pure behavior in fear." While this verse is directed towards wives, the principle applies to husbands as well.
Let's pray:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today to lift up this beloved wife. Lord, we ask that You would soften her heart and draw her back to Your house. Give her a hunger and thirst for righteousness and a longing for fellowship with Your people.
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray that you will open her eyes to the power and presence of God in the local church. We believe that this is where she can be encouraged and equipped for the Christian life.
Help the husband to be a godly example, full of love, patience, and kindness. Guide him in his actions and words, so that he may be a reflection of Your love. Give him the wisdom to know when to speak and when to be silent, trusting in Your perfect timing.
Lord Jesus, it is only by your name that we can come to God. If this person does not know Jesus as their savior, please convict them of this. It is only by believing in Jesus Christ that we can be saved. This is the most important thing to pray for.
Finally, use this situation Lord to bring glory to God. Let the end result be more about God's kingdom, about God's glory.
Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We trust in Your perfect will.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
In the meantime, continue to love and support your wife. Be the spiritual leader in your home, and trust that God is working in her heart. Remember, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39, WEB).
