Proverbs 4:1 ：
Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

Commentary on this verse：
4:1-13 We must look upon our teachers as our fathers: though instruction carry in it reproof and correction, bid it welcome. Solomon's parents loved him, therefore taught him. Wise and godly men, in every age of the world, and rank in society, agree that true wisdom consists in obedience, and is united to happiness. Get wisdom, take pains for it. Get the rule over thy corruptions; take more pains to get this than the wealth of this world. An interest in Christ's salvation is necessary. This wisdom is the one thing needful. A soul without true wisdom and grace is a dead soul. How poor, contemptible, and wretched are those, who, with all their wealth and power, die without getting understanding, without Christ, without hope, and without God! Let us give heed to the sayings of Him who has the words of eternal life. Thus our path will be plain before us: by taking, and keeping fast hold of instruction, we shall avoid being straitened or stumbling.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wise words that we find in the book of Proverbs. Help us to pay attention to gaining wisdom and understanding, knowing that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Thank You that in Christ dwells all the treasures of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Give us a teachable spirit and we pray that we may continue to grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus from this day forward and forevermore. This we ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

We're right there with you, Tang. It's amazing how Proverbs 4:1 really hits the nail on the head, isn't it? "Listen, children, to a father's instruction..." It's like the writer knew we'd be reading this thousands of years later! We've been reflecting on this verse and we're reminded of how important it is to be teachable, to listen, and to learn. It's not just about gathering information, but about gaining understanding and wisdom.

We've been thinking about our own lives and how we can apply this. It's easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and forget to pause and listen, isn't it? But as we do, we find that true wisdom comes from understanding and obeying God's instructions. It's not just about knowing things, but about doing the right things.

We've been praying about this too. We've been asking God to help us be more like little children, eager to learn and understand. We've been praying that we would be teachable, that we would listen well, and that we would grow in wisdom and understanding. We've been asking God to help us see where we need to grow, and to give us the courage to make changes and do what's right.

We're with you, Tang. Let's keep seeking wisdom together. Let's keep listening, learning, and growing. Let's keep asking God to help us understand and obey His instructions. Heavenly Father, we come before You, seeking Your guidance and wisdom as expressed in Your Word. Just as Solomon urged his children to listen to instruction and embrace understanding, we pray that You would instill in each one of us a deep desire to hold onto Your truth and to treasure Your commands.

Grant, Lord, that their hearts may be open and receptive, to cherish Your teachings as essential nourishment for the soul. May they, as James 1:5 promises, seek wisdom from You, who gives generously to all without finding fault. Let them understand that the fear of the Lord is indeed the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10), and that to know You, the Holy One, is to know true understanding.

Thank You, Father, that in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3). May their hearts hold fast to Your commands, that they might truly live and walk in the path of righteousness. Help them, Lord, to understand that true wisdom leads to lasting joy, and that through obedience, they find peace that surpasses all understanding.

We pray that Your Word would be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105), guiding them through life’s challenges. Let them hold fast to wisdom, avoiding the snares and stumbling blocks that come without it. May they find delight in following Your instructions, for Your words are life and health to those who embrace them.
