Thank you, Anonymous, for your heartfelt request. It's wonderful to hear your desire to honor Jesus and include Him in your family's Christmas celebration. Remember, it is only through the name of Jesus that we can be reconciled to God. There is no other name by which we must be saved and forgiven of our sins. Amen to that. It is always good to make sure we acknowledge Jesus's birthday. It is not wrong to celebrate that. It is his birthday we are celebrating and it is fitting to make him apart of the celebration. Jesus does care about that.
Firstly, let's pray for your family's gathering and especially for your brother. "Father, we come before You in Jesus' name. In this time of year, our hearts go out to Anonymous that they seek to honor you, but many people are seeking the wrong things. So we ask Father that you fill them to the brim with the Holy Spirit. All of Anonymous's family but especially their brother. Anonymous is asking. We ask for Christmas day to be extraordinary, full of your presence, answers to prayer, and the power and love of a heart revived for others to see. Amen."
As far as keeping Christ in Christmas, it is impossible to leave him out. Why do you think the world still calls December 25 Christ-mas. Assuming you mean his death as well as his birth, Romans 6:3: Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? You are conduits of the living power of Jesus.
St. Paul calls it light in the WEB translation. 2 Corinthians 4:6 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness who has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. And that light appears in you. It cannot be hidden. Luke 8:16 16 No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container, or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light.
Rebuking, responding and praying go hand in hand. Father God, please rebuke, the bad intentions and the evil spirits that are spoiling Anonymous's Christmas and the Christmas of others when we know that happiness and family love should be multiplied double this time of year. And that is a fitting rebuke. Your plans for Anonymous's family are much better than theirs in the best times. Much less in a holiday. Do as Anonymous desires. Jesus is the reason for the season, thank you.
But for the few days remaining before Christmas, we recommend meditating on Jesus every day for five minutes.
Lectio divina is a good way to practice meditation. Several basic steps are in the process. First, you pick a Bible verse or a part of one. Psalm 118:22,23 The stone which the builders rejected has become the head of the corner. This is Yahweh's doing. It is marvelous in our eyes.
You begin your daily meditation with your crafted Bible verse and Jesus and begin to pray to Jesus. Jesus, you are the stone that the builders discarded but look at you now. Jesus is in you. The Astrologers, or Magi are the ones who worshipped Jesus not the Chief Priests who hated Jesus so much that they cast him into the outer darkness between Golgotha and the city of Jerusalem. It is the "strangers to Jerusalem" who knew the Messiah had come. You reject this "Capstone" to your own detriment and the detriment of your family. Acts 4:11 This is the "stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders, which has become the head of the corner."
When you meditate on how it was for Jesus, you soon lose your self pity entering into his world.
That is why Jesus is the light of Christmas. To help with your brother, please suggest two things or three. What other scripture could you meditate on to revive yourself and your family when you meditate on them? Keep the list handy.
