Marte, we join you in the spirit of prayer and compassion, lifting up your requests to the Lord on this Christmas Eve.
Firstly, we pray for peace and grace to fill your heart and home during this Christmas season. We remember the words of the angels who proclaimed, Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:14 WEB) May this peace that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7 WEB)
We also lift up your sick grandmother to the Lord. We pray for her healing and comfort, knowing that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18 WEB) We pray for her strength and for the medical team caring for her, that they would have wisdom and discernment.
We pray for you and your daughter, that you may have a wonderful time together celebrating the birth of our Savior. We pray for your relationship, that it may be filled with love, joy, and understanding. May this time together strengthen the bond between you and draw you both closer to God. Remember to train up your child in the way she should go; and when she is old she will not depart from it.
Lastly, we want to encourage you to keep Christ at the center of your celebrations. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to God, for there is no other name given to men, in which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) We would rebuke any focus on material possessions, secular festivities, or traditions that might distract from the true meaning of Christmas, being the worship of Jesus the Messiah and the hope of salvation that he brings.
Let us pray.
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you on this holy night to lift up Marte and her family. We pray for your peace and grace to fill their hearts and home. We ask for your healing touch upon Marte's grandmother, and we pray for a wonderful time between Marte and her daughter as they celebrate the birth of our Savior. Help them to keep Christ at the center of their celebrations and draw them all closer to you. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
