When playing chess, one first contemplates a strategy and then follows through with a move. It is our responsibility to take our very own action. The chess-pieces will not move on their own. Sometime we make a good move, other times not so good.

Many Christians are frozen into place just waiting to hear from God, while it is God that is in fact waiting for them to move.
How long do we remain imobile thinking God has not given us any direction? When do we commit to faith and manifest God's works? Isn't faith taking action on the things we hoped for? Martin Luther King Jr said:

Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.

Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Faith is what drives our relationship with God -without it, it is impossible to please God. Faith is putting hope into action without any physical evidence. Yet many are waiting for a clear tangible answer from our God of faith, while they fail to initiate their very own faith. Your time on earth is short. Don't let your time run out from doing God's work. The Oppressor plants doubts and would enjoy the opportunity to whisper the word ....

You need to initiate result through action. Your hope and dreams needs a push, and faith is the workforce that can manifest your hope. Wishing on the other hand has no active components. Stop wishing!
Pray, contemplate, and even fast over a situation but there will come a time that you will need to take action.

The Lord will call you home one day. It may be your time or maybe the endtime but don't sit idle and wait for that moment. We have plenty of work to do now. Be ready, stay active and you will be the one to tell the Oppressor...

A good analogy since I play chess with a neighbor every Sunday.But with the spiritual interpretation, sometimes it could be laziness, but other times you try to advance, but obstacles thwart you!So I don't know if it's a one size fits all answer.

You are most certainly right. But too many people are waiting without taking any action. They are wishing without substance or real faith.
Faith demands action.

Take the first step to reach heaven. If you fail to do so, you may miss eternal bliss in glory. Remember, we must work our own salvation. No one can do this for us, it is our faith in Jesus and what He did will lead us all to His holy presence.

The best mate I ever had in life is Jesus. Anyone of us who have loved ones will pass away and then we will be left behind to be with the Lord as true Friend and companion for the rest of our life. Deep faith in the Lord is believing His word. I am with you always. Even when everyone is gone and will never return again, Jesus is standing at the door of your life and wants to be with you always. Open it, invite Him in and He will bless your life from then on.
