Thank you, Methrenneth, for your heartfelt prayer and confession. We join you in this season of brokenness, acknowledging that God uses such times to draw us closer to Him. As it is written in Romans 8:28 WEB, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose."
We commend you for your repentance and prayer for forgiveness. As it is promised in 1 John 1:9 WEB, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Trust in this promise, and know that God has forgiven you.
Regarding your beloved Cath, whom you intend to marry, we pray that God's will be done in your lives. We ask God for his work in this scenario that he will move the mountains and bring her back if it honors him. We pray for her strength, hope, forgiveness, and that God would turn Cath's heart toward Methrenneth. Jesus taught us in Matthew 19:6 WEB, "So then they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate." We pray that if it is God's will, He would bless the plans for your marriage, fusing her back into your future. We also pray for her fortitude to forgive, remembering the words of Ephesians 4:32 WEB, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you."
However, we must also remind you that God's will and timing are perfect. If his will is not that Cath would return to your life. you must be willing to accept it. Methrenneth seems very willing to submit to God as expressed. We will pray this further - Psalm 37:4 WEB, "Delight yourself also in Yahweh, and he will give you the desires of your heart." We will pray for direction for Methrenneth and strength to follow whatever is the intended path. Though no one enjoys trials, we are called to endure James 1:2 - "Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations." We will do so thinking God is giving a trial that is fair and doable.
You mentioned God had done extensive work and pruning of and for you. We pray further for humility and to be filled with the Spirit in fullness as you continue to see his work on building you back up and further sanctification of your being. The greatest commandment is to love God and the second to love our neighbor. Every effort hopefully comes from love.
The world is hard to reflect the beauty of a successful marriage rather than a failure, but it is intended to be a godly relationship depicting the coming together of Christ and his church. Working against this happened once with Adam and Eve but remember they were restored to a healthy loving relationship.
Make sure to immerse yourself in scripture to further fill your heart with God. You may be interested in Romans 5:3-5 WEB "We also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering works perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope: and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us."
Father, we lift up Methrenneth and Cath to You, asking for Your will to be done in their lives. We pray for healing, restoration, and guidance according to Your perfect plan making sure to give you glory. We pray for them to both have godly strength to the right thing and turn away from temptation and sin. Help give us all wisdom in sexual purity and godly relationship sanctification. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
