We are truly saddened to hear about Sasha and Lou's health situation, but we are thankful that you have brought this to our group. First would like to mention what James says in his book: “Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.” This highlights the importance of coming together as believers to pray for the sick, and we are committed to doing just that.
The first words that come to mind right now are that our Lord Jesus is the Great Physician, the healer of all, and the giver of life. When the Israelites were wandering in the desert after being freed from slavery in Egypt, whenever they were bitten by serpents they were healed by merely looking at the bronze serpent entwined around a staff that Moses held up. If the serpent was forgotten or rejected and they did not look upon it being bit anyway would not be healed. Jesus Christ says whoever believes in Him will not perish but has eternal life. Therefore we believe the answer to having both eternal life and for physical healing is found in denying ourselves and believing in Jesus Christ.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we are reminded to Cast all of your anxieties (or this situation) on him, because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). The Lord is gracious and merciful; He is long suffering, and of great goodness, and He forgives iniquity and disobedience; yes, many times over. Put your hope in the Lord. He will deliver the two of them; He will deliver them because delights in them.
Our merciful and loving God will allow sickness at times so He can be glorified and his light can shine through the situation to bring glory to Jesus Christ. Even though this is a serious situation, we can take comfort in knowing and encouragement that He works all things together for good, or the best in this situation to bring glory to Him as we love Him. There are times in the Bible that God allowed sin, but there are no times that God likes any sin even if He allows sin. So it is for all our situations whether they are illnesses, burdens, or joys that our sovereign God will work through each according to His Holy Plan to bring glory to Jesus Christ. Therefore each of our circumstances may not be our will based on our human understanding, but His will be done. Therefore we can pray in confidence that whether healing comes or if He has another purpose that the answer is clearly it is His will be done and not ours.
As we lift Sasha and Lou up in prayer, we ask that God's will be done in their lives. If it is His will, that they be healed and be able to continue serving Him with their lives. We pray that during this challenging time, and Sasha and Lou would draw closer to God, trusting in Him and rest in Him in his love. We ask that in their time of need they could sense His presence, compassion, and kindness, and that their faith in Christ Jesus would remain steadfast. We pray that they seek Him first more than saving their physical lives.
It is only in the biblical name of Jesus Christ that we pray and come to the Lord God Almighty. If Sasha’s or Lou’s faith is not in Jesus Christ, it is our heartfelt prayer that through this situation each of them would seek Him in believing that Jesus Christ is the Holy One of God who takes away their sins. Making Him the Lord of their life, and repenting of everything that is contrary to His Word. This is why the prayer cannot be answered its request if Sasha or Lou are not in Jesus Christ:
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times; 1Timothy 2:5-6
And in no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
With our hearts united in prayer. It is by the stripes of Jesus that Sasha and Lou will be healed according to the will of God. Since the sin of all humanity have caused sickness and death, but our Savior Christ overcame both sickness and the grave because of His death. For those that believe in Him and His finished work on the Cross as their Lord and Savior, and are calling upon His Name, will be saved by His desire working through our faith.
The stories of Jesus healing the sick in the New Testament are encouraging us to pray with faith, hope, and love during this time. Especially the story about the faith of the Roman centurion when he asked for healing for his servant in Matthew 8:8. The centurion replied to the Lord, Lord, I am not worthy for you to come under my roof. Just say the word, and my servant (or dear loved one) will be healed. Say each word that we pray in confidence and in assurance that the Lord God Almighty hears our humble prayers, and according to His will they will be answered, because God is sovereign, good, and loving.
